UPDATED TEAM TEAM NEWS:

Erol Bulut:

“For the last game against Rotherham, still we have half the team are not with us because of injury,” Erol began. “Callum O’Dowda will be with us, it looks like this, but he will not be available from the starting XI.

“We will try to use him, but I don’t want to use players that just came back from injuries to have a problem again. In pre-season, everybody has to be fully fit and be back. We cannot take risks that Cardiff City have injured players.”

Erol Bulut will be putting up to 6 Under 21 players
in to the match day squad.

Erol Bulut has confirmed Yakou Meite has suffered a grade two tear on his calf and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Aaron Ramsey to miss rest of season through injury. Started seven games on his Cardiff return, finished just one of those.

Rubin Colwill is 50-50

Adding to the club's injury woes are player of the season Perry Ng is doubtful.

The Opposition's Manager

Steve Evans was re-appointed Rotherham manager for a second spell in April.

Until then, he had been Stevenage manager since March 2022.

In his first spell as Rotherham manager, between 2012 and 2015, he guided them to promotion from both League Two and League One.

He has also had spells in charge of Leeds, Crawley, Peterborough, Gillingham, Mansfield and Boston.

Opposition Dangerous Players

We obviously know Jordan Hugill from his short loan with us. He has three league goals this season.

Another ex-City player, Lee Peltier, is likely to play. Dillon Phillips could start in goal for them.

Andy Rinomhota is ineligible to play, as he’s on loan from us.

Head To Head

We won 2-0 at home to Rotherham in September.

We are unbeaten in our last five against them, winning four.

Rotherham United awaiting 'brutally honest' assessment from Steve Evans -

STEVE EVANS says the hard work starts now for Rotherham United as he strives to plot a route back to Championship football for the Millers.

Evans said he was preparing a document for chairman Tony Stewart on the best way forward for the club after a forgettable campaign.

"This is one of the biggest challenges I have taken on, but I am confident that we can bounce back next season,” said Evans.

Ref Watch – Millers v Bluebirds -

Rotherham United’s last game of the season sees Cardiff City travel to the New York Stadium when the referee will be Andy Davies from Hampshire.

This will be the third time the Millers and Andy have met this season the first being in October at Hillsborough when former Miller Michael Smith scored two to give the hosts all three points. The beginning of December also saw Andy in charge of an away game involving Rotherham in a goalless draw at St Andrew’s against Birmingham City.

He was twice in the middle for Millers games last season the last being in October at the Coventry Arena when the Millers twice went in front thanks to goals from Cohen Bramall and Conor Washington but were pegged back both times ending up with a point. Earlier that month he also had the whistle for our New York Stadium game which saw Wigan get a two-nil win with Millers fans not shy in coming forward to show their wrath against the ref who made some, shall we say, peculiar decisions.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR -
It’s been a disappointing season for the Millers, who have been relegated to Sky Bet League One.

The side have amassed just 24 points and are set to finish the campaign at the foot of the table.

Rotherham are winless in their last five fixtures, having fallen to a 2–0 defeat away to Bristol City last time out.

The Millers’ away form has largely contributed to their relegation, recording just four points on their travels this season.

With the side struggling in the second tier this term, it’s been a busy season for goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

The 25-year-old joined the club in 2020 from Leicester City and has since become an important part in the Millers’ squad.

A Swedish international, Johansson has a save percentage of 69% this season.

In his 44 starts between the sticks, he had made a total of 177 saves, an average of 4.02 per match.

The Bluebirds welcomed the Millers to Cardiff City Stadium back in September in search of a fourth consecutive victory.

City achieved just that, building on wins over Swansea City, Coventry City and Sunderland.

The key moment came with 56 minutes on the clock, with Karlan Grant showing his crossing ability, delivering a perfect ball for Kion Etete to head home.

City’s striker almost bagged another late-on, as he forced a save from Johansson, but the rebound fell to Perry Ng, who finished to secure all three points for the Bluebirds.

Rotherham United come into this clash with Cardiff City having been relegated for weeks now and they have a big summer ahead as they look to bounce back with an immediate promotion from League One next season.

The Millers have brought back Steve Evans from Stevenage to guide them into next term and he is a manager who knows what it takes to get out of the third tier.

It has been a dismal campaign for the South Yorkshire outfit and everyone associated with the club will be eager to see the back of it as they look to the future.

Cardiff City, on the other hand, haven’t had a bad year under Erol Bulut and need to sort out his future over the coming weeks. The Turkish boss joined them last summer and has made a positive impression.

The Welsh side are sat in 12th place in the table and could finish as high as 9th if they pick up three points at the New York Stadium and the likes of Coventry City, Preston North End and Bristol City drop points around them.

Playing players who won't be here next season just baffles me. It's a nothing game really although we want to win and they are down anyway I just don't see the point in them playing tbh :banghead:

Balut's team selection leaves a lot to be desired. No creativity in midfield and persists in playing Romeo (shite) and Tanner out of position.
Perfect opportunity to put more youngsters in and STILL plays a defensive setup.
Sorry he can go as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather the devil I don't know thanks.
