12th Clean Sheet of the Season (vs. Birmingham)

Thu Apr 11, 2024 8:59 am

Joint 6th best in the division. That is a great stat, in my opinion. Just 1 less than Leicester and 2 less than Ipswich.

(# of Clean Sheets)
1. Leeds United 19
2.West Bromwich Albion 17
3.Ipswich Town 14
4. Millwall 13
5. Leicester City 13
6. Bristol City 12
7. Cardiff City 12
8. Sunderland 12
9. Watford 12

There has been some games where we have been carved through, but also some outstanding defensive displays (as per last night).

The obvious thought is Phillips & Hovrath's addition to the team, but we've 'only' had 4 clean sheets since both came into the team. NG & Goutas deserve some major praise for the above... and there is definitely room for improvement.

Last year we also had 12, but all season; which was 15th best in the division at the end of the season.

We've also failed to score in 14.

That's 9 less than Leicester and 8 less than Ipswich.

Defence isn't really our problem!!

No doubt there are two things we need to improve on next season:

Scoring goals and home form.

We’ve won nine away games this season with two more still to come. If we can repeat that next season with 15/16 home wins then that’s top six form.

Spot on. And a good target.

Need to be braver at home. Sitting back and letting teams play infront of us obviously works, as seen away. But not as the home team, this season it just seems to have given all our visitors confidence.

I was hunting for positives :laughing6: , not hunting for problems. "We don't score enough" is my go-to after a defeat! :laughing6:

I'm over critical of Rubin's goals or assists.... he got one yesterday.
