Bluebirds Danny Gabbidon says Erol Bulut needs to improve but believes the Turkish boss should be given more time in the Cardiff hotseat.

Bulut's contract, which comes to an end this summer, has been the talking point over the past few weeks and months as Cardiff limp over the Championship line.

Uncertainty over his future appears to be permeating through to the players, although the boss himself has been keen to not use it as an excuse for some poor results in recent weeks.

A decision must be made one way or another, though, and Gabbidon admits things need addressing.


"The manager needs to know if he stays as well," Gabbidon said. "Things have to improve, in terms of the style of play, but I think we did see that at the start of the season. My disappointment with that is if you’re trying to change the style of play, at this point now they should be even better at what they’re doing and not worse!

"So that’s how it’s gone this season. As it’s gone on you’ve thought the team will get better and closer to what the manager wants. But it’s actually gone a little bit the other way. In terms of that, the manager will know he needs to improve if he stays next season.
