Hull star set to make Bluebirds return as Bulut bats away transfer question

Jaden Philogene will make his return to Cardiff City for the first time since his season-long-loan in the Welsh capital last season.

Steve Morison signed Philogene from Aston Villa in the summer of 2022. The former England U21 international went on to play 39 times for the Bluebirds, becoming a fans’ favourite and scoring five goals.

Philogene has taken his performance to new heights this season since his £5.8million move to Humberside, however, scoring eight goals and assisting six so far this term

This weekend’s fixture will also see Cardiff manager Bulut re-acquainted with two familiar faces.

Hull’s Turkish midfielders Abdülkadir Omür and Ozan Tufan are two players Bulut knows well, having managed the latter at Fenerbahce.

Asked whether he tried to sign Omür before he joined the Tigers in January, Bulut said: “We tried to sign many players, but we had less money to spend."

Bulut was then asked about Tufan, who has become a fans’ favourite in East Yorkshire.

“He’s a good player,” responded the manager. “He scored and had a good game when they played against us (earlier this season). We know what to expect on Saturday.”

Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior has backed star man Jaden Philogene to rediscover his form and help reignite the Tigers' quest for a place in the play-offs.

Philogene hasn't scored in his previous eight games since his audacious Rabona goal in the comeback win at Rotherham United, with his most recent assist coming at Southampton, which was also the Tigers' last victory taking his tally to eight goals and six assists since his much-publicised summer move from Aston Villa.

The winger, who did enjoy a goalscoring international break away with England's Under-21s in Azerbaijan, has seen his last 30 efforts on goal fail to yield a goal, but Rosenior is convinced the 22-year-old will find his mojo once more as the City chief looks to inspire a return to winning ways for his side at Cardiff this weekend.
