Cardiff City hope to have Callum O’Dowda:

Wed Feb 28, 2024 2:41 pm

Cardiff City hope to have Callum O’Dowda in their matchday squad for Saturday’s Severnside Derby with the former Bristol City winger having been out of action for six months.

O’Dowda is in his second season as a Bluebird, after joining them from the Robins in the summer of 2022, but has made just four appearances under Erol Bulut, the last of which was on August 26 against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Republic of Ireland international underwent groin surgery and then suffered two setbacks in his recovery but Wales Online have reported that there is optimism the 28-year-old could make the bench for this weekend’s trip along the M4.

O’Dowda played 176 games for City from 2016-2022, scoring 10 goals, but his time in the West Country was also marked by a serious of injury issues. If he is given the green light to play, this will be his second visit to Ashton Gate in Cardiff colours having played 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat in August, 2022.

Bristol City’s arch-nemesis Callum Robinson is back in training for Bulut’s side with the forward having found the net six times in 12 games against the Robins and never been on the losing side with 10 wins and two draws when playing for Preston North End, West Brom and Cardiff. Robinson has been out since the first week of January.

If Callum returns as good as he was, he make such a difference for us. One of the best players we have IMO :ayatollah:
