The club secured a new sponsorship deal with Go Compare this week to advertise their logo on the back of the playing shorts for the remainder of the season. This is the second time that they have sponsored City's shorts the last time being 2007/2008 season when we reached the FA Cup Final.
This particular deal has secured City a cool £100k for the coffers. On the subject of advertising we are literally seeing the fruits of having Vincent Tan as our major backer, as those who were at the game on Tuesday will have seen the new advertising around the ground of his sales company, Cosway. This was first revealed back in May
http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewt ... =2&t=14882 and I understand that VT is still keen to use the logo and company name on next seasons shirts, when the current deal with SBOBET expires.
Vincent Tan, who was present at both the Millwall and Palace games used the time he was here to see for himself how the club is run and who is running it. VT is a shrewd businessman and makes decisions which will prove unpopular with some but he is determined along with TG to run it correctly and within budget. As well as many staff members at the club being on casual contracts for months, others have been made redundant this week. People in high positions at the club and on considerable wages have been made redundant. The Malaysians are cut throat businessmen and will not run a business like a charity, staff will work for their money and certain people have now been told they will take on more responsibilty than they previously had, actually roles have been coupled and will now be done by less staff. No more jobs for the boys like we had under the Ridsdale regime and if people are not up to the task they will find themselves on the dole queue.
VT has injected a further £1.5million into the club and this means the wages have been paid on time today and the money is available to pay the tax bill on time again. The monthly outgoings to the creditors will all be paid on time too. Without Vincent Tan and TG this club would be down and out as a result of the Ridsdale regime, PR had exploited every avenue of income prior to his departure and this included spending nearly every penny of the 17,000 season tickets sold for this season. The Malaysians receive very little income from ticket sales if you compare it to the money they put in frequently and then pay out but I am told that VT was "thrilled and excited" and "overwhelmed" by the crowd chanting "Do the Ayatollah, Vincent".
It is important that we continue to back VT and TG and show them they have the support of the fans by turning out in the thousands for each game as we have done all season. Vincent Tan has told DJ that he is able to bring in more loan players if he feels it is necessary and that there will be money made available in January for the big push, this would sound like music to the ears of DJ, it is what he has wanted for previous seasons and it seems that his wishes are coming true. Obviously this brings added pressure and DJ knows like everyone else at the club, they want success and he must deliver it.
DJ is delighted that he is able to call on Craig Bellamy for Saturday's game against Barnsley, now that Craig has been training for the first time in weeks with the rest of the squad. Olofinjana has felt no ill effects from Tuesday's game and will keep hios place in the team. Saturday may be a touch too early for Chops but he has been making excellent progress. Danny Drinkwater and Chris Riggott should both be available for selection after the international break.
After successfully negotiating Darcy Blake's contract, DJ is hopeful that Whitts will sign his contract over the next few days.
The owner of the Ninian Park Pub, John Bassett, met with Annis today to discuss the concerns fans have had about the Ninian Park Pub, during the conversation John said that he will be adding many more Cardiff City pictures and memorabilla in the lounge. John wants the City fans in there and is delighted that this forum members meets there and he stated he wants to work with us and will listen to our concerns and ideas, which I think is fantastic. John has doubled the amount of staff behind the bar and in the lounge to cut the waiting times. Hopefully City fans will embrace the Pub and give it every chance of success or it could eventually become a block flats. The pub offers good food at excellent prices in a family friendly atmosphere and also the pub will now stock all of Annis Abraham's books for sale 7 days a week.
