:bluebird: :bluebird: " NEIL WARNOCK TODAY UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS " :bluebird: :bluebird:

Friday 14th December 2018 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Here’s a recap of the key talking points. :bluebird:

Neil Warnock confirms Nathaniel Clyne is on Cardiff City’s radar.

He remains unsure if Kenneth Zohore will be fit to face Watford, adding that has trained fully this week.

The manager says the Bluebirds “ran before we can walk” and admits the club need to continue to improve the structure.

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on Cardiff City's next opponents Watford

“They’ve improved every year. You’ve got to have pace and power and athleticism, but they’ve done well each year. We’re a long way short of that at the minute.”

Neil Warnock on the January transfer window

“When we’re looking at a player, we’re not looking at players the top half of the Premier League can afford. You have to weigh up the cost of the player, look at the situation if we got relegated, the financial implications of the club - and who’s available. You don’t want your good players to go in January.”

“We’re looking at three positions if we can, but I’m probably only confident in one position of the three. It looks like if our number one or two options don’t come off, it’ll be the end of January.”

Neil Warnock delivers an update on Cardiff City's transfer search

“We’ve spoke about a number of players and even the ones we’re talking about signing, it doesn’t mean they’re going to be better than what we’ve got. No matter what you pay, it doesn’t guarantee they’re going to do it in the Premier League. We probably have to prune the squad a little bit and give ourselves one or two options.”

On the home form

“Fans have been amazing and we’ve relaxed a lot more. You get punished a lot more away from home and it’s been our own fault away, we’ve shot ourselves in the foot. We’re learning and we’ve improved as the season has gone on.”

Neil Warnock on the Emiliano Sala links

“None of them have moved on, we’re looking at targets all over the show and crossed a few off this week - and added one or two targets. January is difficult and you sometimes pay over the top. I don’t want to bring in anybody who’s not better than what we’ve got. It’s as difficult as I’ve ever seen it. Mehmet (Dalman) and Ken (Choo) are working really hard, we haven’t got a director of football and most Premier League clubs have got five or six more staff than we’ve got.”

“We have to give everyone a look even if it’s a waste of time and try to bring in someone of the right calibre.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Four points above drop zone

“The mood has been good all season, we’ve got to try and start picking up points away. We always knew the home form would be critical but it’s given us a bit of leeway - especially with these difficult games coming up.”

Neil Warnock on the Raheem Sterling racism row

“I know they say that was a racial comment but I’ve had it where hatred has come through to me. These people are so vitriolic and that’s gone back since I was in my 20s. Just because I was playing for the opposition, there was just hatred and you can see it. “

NEIL WARNOCK:

On averaging around a point-per-game

I’d probably have taken that but I’m disappointed we’re not on 20 plus the points we’ve thrown away. We’re still very big favourites to get relegated and quite rightly so with the squad we’ve got compared to others.”

Neil Warnock on being asked to cover Sheffield United v West Brom

“They asked me to cover that! Life moves on (from the battle of Bramall Lane), Michael Brown is commentating on it tonight - we were accused of lots of things that day! I don’t look back on it with pleasure to be honest.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

On the club's structure

“All clubs at this level now will have to have a structure. We’ve ran before we can walk and it’s our own fault. We’re short on every aspect: our medical staff, PR staff etc. So that’s why you want to stay up, to become a better club and in 10 years you could see a big difference. As a manager you cannot do everything, especially in the Premier League now. You need help and that will come in the next few years.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on Nathaniel Clyne

“I know Nathaniel I gave him his debut and I know his mother. But the thing about that is they’ve had a lot of injuries and they’ve got to look after themselves. It’s very difficult to get clubs to commit.”

“He’d be one on our list, yes, we’re looking at that position.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on the fitness of Kenneth Zohore

“He’s training, he was involved yesterday, he’s had a week with Lee (Southernwood) doing his fitness and he joined in with us with some ball work and then did extra physical stuff.
“It’s down to him, he knows what I think about him and you never know, we could see the new Ken Zohore.
“I’m not sure (if he’s available for selection) as he hasn’t had any game time. He’s running about so it’s whether I think he could do half an hour. I honestly don’t know.”

What an inspiration NW is to our players, if any manager can keep us in the premier he can. Most importantly he has the respect of every player who’ll run through brick walls for him and the cause.

Javi Gracia on Watford v Cardiff City

“We will respect them a lot,” said Gracia.

“They are in a better moment with confidence with their last results. We know we have to be 100 per cent concentrated and give our best because it will be a demanding game.”

"The mood has been good all season, we’ve got to try and start picking up points away. We always knew the home form would be critical but it’s given us a bit of leeway - especially with these difficult games coming up.”

"Fans have been amazing and we’ve relaxed a lot more. You get punished a lot more away from home and it’s been our own fault away, we’ve shot ourselves in the foot. We’re learning and we’ve improved as the season has gone on."

Could you stay up without winning an away game?

"We’d have to win a few good games at home against the top teams! You don’t want to lose games away from home, but sometimes the results away are the ones you can’t predict. Anyone outside the top five or six, there are surprising results."

On averaging around a point-per-game

"I’d probably have taken that but I’m disappointed we’re not on 20 plus the points we’ve thrown away. We’re still very big favourites to get relegated and quite rightly so with the squad we’ve got compared to others."

Next up, Joe Bennett...

Joe Bennett on Cardiff's away form

"I think we like to set up a bit more defensively away from home, a bit more cautious. We have different personnel too, Junior (Hoilett) tends to play a lot away from home as the gaffer trusts him to do that job defensively."

Joe Bennett on what it would mean to bring in new recruits in January

"That will help us, even though we’re doing well. A couple of signings will be good for us and provides competition for us in the team."

Joe Bennett on the competition for places at left-back

"It has done. When I was left out of the team, it spurred me on a little bit more and I’ve had a couple of good games recently. I’m determined to keep my spot. Greg can play a couple of positions, he can play left of a back three but then left wing back is more my position."

Joe Bennett on Watford

"They’re a good team, started off well this season so we’ll need to go there and defend really well and take our chances - like we haven’t done this season to be honest."

Joe Bennett on racism in football

"I watched Sol on the debate and he made some really good points. It’s disgusting behaviour and something players are aware of. Hopefully as a football community we can speak about it more and bring some light to it.

"You don’t really get it in any other sport, football is the main sport it happens in and we need to do things to change it.

"Generally you get fans giving you grief, but I’ve not had it on that scale. There’s a line and the minority overstep that line.
