OFFICIAL “ VIDEO ASSISTANT REFEREES IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE “

Thu Nov 15, 2018 2:40 pm

Premier League clubs have agreed in principle to introduce Video Assistant Referees (VAR) to the competition in the 2019/20 season.

At a Shareholders’ Meeting today, clubs were provided with an update on the non-live VAR trials being undertaken by the League and Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL) this season.

Key learnings from VAR's use in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, and other leagues across the world, were discussed in detail.

The Premier League’s non-live testing programme will remain in place for the rest of this season, with a continued emphasis on those Saturday afternoons which have several matches being played concurrently, and developing a clear protocol for communicating VAR decisions to fans.

The League will now formally make a request to the International Football Association Board and FIFA to use VAR next season.

Well that's what will happen and when something happens in build up to a goal opposition will be screaming for var? As incidents come up there Will be calls for var to be used, handball will never be accidental as world cup showed! Its ok screaming var like sat but what would same team say if relegated by var review? I think refs will lose ability to make a decision because var will intervene and give ref different perspective and then will change mind? Wait for game with/45 pens :old:

It is a must in modern day football, with various decisions going one way or another and at the end of the day we just want the same VAR choices as every team in the league. But fingers crossed this will end the debate that the best teams get the best decisions than the lower teams in the league, with this said Cardiff will know there fate eventually whenever that is, survival or relegation.

Cardiff never gets the best referees in the league anyway so it shouldn't matter as much.

At end day it's the interpretation of the ref and what he sees? all var will do is interprete things in different way using slow motion, my fear is var will make ref change his mind on something he clearly saw like handball which var got hopelessly wrong in world cup. :)
