I believe we are in this mini league with the above.
Finish 5th or better IN THE MINI LEAGUE AND ITS JOB DONE! Also if we can nick a point or two from the likes of West ham Everton wolves Leicester makes life a little more easier.
VERDICT. WE ARE STAYING UP!

Rubbish.
We are million miles away from Palace, Newcastle, Burnley, Fulham and Southampton. All of them have a top level way beyond us, and have something to build on. We don’t.

Zzzzzzzzz

Maybe you should watch more football. And bring a friend explaining it to you, how it works an stuff. There isn't any mini league after six games, and the teams you are listing suggest you have no clue...

Why do you come on this board your clearly not a Cardiff City fan?

Does being a City fan mean you have to be blind as a bat? Don’t care what you think. I pay my membership and follow all City when I can. And I won’t be one of those shouting Warnock out. The poor guy never had a chance..

So you don't think those teams listed will be in and around us ? You can't have been watching the premier league this season

No i dont Wez. Ive watched almost every game and our games two or three times. You are way of Wez! We can beat Burnley at home, sure. But the teams you list have a much higher top level than us. And from what I’ve seen last season and now we ARE at our top level. We don’t have anything more to build on.

That's your opinion, but I can't see any merit in it, either technically or tactically. In fact our biggest immediate problem is that we are still developing as a team and that we must somehow speed that process up.
I really don't know of any club sides who have switched up a level, brought in five new players and reached their full potential after 5 or 6 games.
Newcastle are one of the teams you imagine are above us in some way , and yet they were quite lucky to get a point out if us in about our third game together.
You seem to demand or expect instant results and you seem unaware that things change in all football teams over time. You're very wrong in both these ideas. Some teams will learn and improve , others will lose players to injury or transfers or some off the field drama and I can't predict the results of that process any more than you can, but I'm perfectly sure that Sir Neil has enough knowledge and experience to take us in the correct direction if that's possible .
If we'd somehow got lucky and won the last three games we'd be silly to be confident of a Champions League place, and it's equally silly to think that we've exhausted all possibilities to improve because we haven't cracked it at this early point in the season.

No, i am not wrong, and yes, it is my opinion shared by many others. We do not possess a higher level than we are preforming at. A few single players can raise their bar, but not as a team. I share Brede Hangelands opinion that Neil Warnock is limited in the tactical department, and I also share his opinion on his man management skills. And that is our only hope. You talk about injuries, but you fail to address that we are the ones who will suffer the most from this, and there are two reasons why. First is the way we play. Since we lack in the technical department and fail to put four passes toghether we run hard and we tackle hard. That leads to injuries. Which leads to the second point. We do not have any squad depth. The ones we have bearly hold championship level. Thank god we Managed to strengthen our midfield, and let’s hope we manage to strengthen our attack in January. Becouse we do not have the quality. Every statistic and tactical attribute support that. We have not once been able to finish a game without serious lapses of both concentration and Tactical missjudgement. And last. No manager can do any better than Warnock with this squad, becouse it’s all man management and psychology, as we do not have the quality. And I’m dead right about this, wether you want to admit or not.

And Paul Abbondo made an excellent point on our set peiceses in Blakey’s boot room. We are really short on a dead ball specialist, as we will not get the same ratio as we did in the championship..

An alternative way of looking at the league:

- We need 39 points to survive.
- We play 13 teams outside of the top 6.
- If we aim for 2 points per home game against those 13 teams that = 26
- If we aim for 1 point per away game against those 13 teams that = 13
- Any points against the top 6 is a bonus.
- 26 + 13 = 39 points which = safety!

As we only drew against Newcastle at home, and lost to Bournemouth away we are only -2 behind target points. All other results have gone as expected.

If you analyse the current results of all 13 teams versus the points they should have got using the above method, our mini league currently looks like this:

1. Watford +7
2. Leicester +3
=2. Wolves +3
4. Bournemouth +2
5. Brighton +1
=6. Palace 0
=6. Newcastle 0
8. West Ham -1
=9. Cardiff -2
=9. Everton -2
=9. Fulham -2
--------------------
12. Southampton -3
13. Burnley -3
14. Huddersfield -4

We are staying up!! :-)

You’ve made a lot of effort here but forgot to factor in the key piece of the analysis - that we are nowhere near good enough to win 2 out of every 3 home games against the ‘13’, nor win 1 in 3 away against them.

I don’t buy this mini league thing. The truth is for survival to be guaranteed, some points will need to be nicked from clubs in the top half. After all, they have more commitments in terms of European fixtures and cup ties. This may cause them to field 2nd strings for games against ‘lower’ clubs. That could be an advantage.

The teams around the bottom of the table will be scrapping and just as hungry as each other.

I can’t see any possibility of survival unless there are points for wins - soon!!!!

Burnley are a tough side. Make no mistake: They will regard a visit to Cardiff as a raid. It is going to be a hard-fought fixture in my opinion.

its not science thats for sure..but your far more likely to pick points up against the lower teams...
Southampton won 7 games last season..they beat clubs that finished 20th { twice } 18th, 13th, 12th, {11th Palace who at that point hadnt even scored let alone had points } and 8th placed Everton who were 2 points outside relegation zone at the time..

Absolutely! The teams around the bottom of the league are where you’d like to think points will be available, but it needs more than that to survive and the fixtures at the bottom become 6 pointers so both teams go at it. What i was trying to say is you need to take points off bigger teams too. The odd 3 points vs a top club can make a massive difference. Don’t forget about the win vs Man C last time around.

yes beat Man City and also got relegated as did Swansea last season ,who not only won more games than Southamptons 7 that I mentioned but also had the more impressive results { beating Arsenal and Liverpool }..

yes points against top 6 clubs helps but only if you churn out your fair share against the clubs around you..
if there was a choice id prefer to scrape up ugly like Southampton than go down with some huge wins like Swansea.
