O/T HANGING A DOOR

Postby Steve the Tea TM (c) » Fri Aug 10, 2018 7:50 pm

Am looking to have a door purchased and hung. Have been quoted a price of:

door £21
lock £35
handle £15
doorstop £10
hinges £5
labour £64
TOTAL £150.

Is this reasonable?

Depends on the door. Front, back, bathroom, garage etc.

My daughter had internal doors fitted at £100 each not to long ago. G.D carpentry on Checkatrade. Did a great job. Suppose quote is dependent on door quality in the end. If your asking for locks etc assume it’s external so your quote doesn’t sound to bad.

shouldn't take a chippy more than half hour to hang a door, so £50 would be a fair price to a chippy cash.A firm would probably charge around £100 plus vat. when you think the lads house bashing for the likes of redrow and the rest of them would probably have to do the whole house to make their money for the day.

Surely not an outside door for£ 21. I'll huff and puff and blow your door down i take it the lock you meant was receiver etc so not an external. Internal price ok

That’s a Howdens door most probably. Lock I gather for a bathroom. I would say that’s about fair.
