Cost of policing at Man City and Man Utd

Can't imagine our bill is anywhere near this lot..

What GMP charged Manchester United and Man City to police each of their matches last season
It cost United and City four times more for policing their matches than it did for nine London clubs COMBINED during the 2017/18 season

Manchester's two football clubs were charged almost £2m for policing their games last season.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) charged City £966,751 to attend football matches at the Etihad in 2017/18, while United were billed £850,414, exclusive figures reveal.

That comes to a total of £1,817,165, according to data released by GMP under the Freedom of Information Act.

However, we can also reveal that London’s nine Premier League and Championship London clubs were charged just £442,091 COMBINED by the Metropolitan Police - four times less than Manchester’s two teams. The Met Police routinely have far fewer officers policing matches in London than GMP do in Manchester - hence the lower cost. Under current rules, clubs are only obliged to pay for policing in the stadium and on their land, leading to the taxpayer picking up most of the bill.

The most expensive game policed by GMP was Manchester City’s home game against Dutch side Feyenoord.

A bill of £87,984 landed on City’s doorstep for that game - when thousands of Dutch fans were marched from the city centre to the Etihad Stadium.

The Manchester Derby at the Etihad on April 7 was the next most expensive game at £80,322.
The Derby at Old Trafford was the next costliest match at £68,740.

Both the top (Manchester) figures and the London figures surprise me, as I thought they would be a lot more! :thumbright:

Inevitably, with the increase in crowd and away fan numbers on a regular basis. I think ours will increase next season. However, I think our local police seem to be a lot more approachable and engaged (than certain other forces we could name) with the fans, so hopefully not too involved inside the stadium in a similar fashion to the last few years!

Working out at less than £1 per attending supporter :ayatollah:
