British World Cup 2030 Bid?

Would this give Wales the opportunity to make the World Cup Finals?

England have suggested another bid and as it will be the Centenary of the tournament they would be odds on to get it.

However there has been talk at FIFA and UEFA that a joint British bid would be preferable, with the German FA also backing this.

The question is would FIFA allow four host nations to qualify. They are still to sanction USA, Canada & Mexico given qualification. However with 48 nations now involved it would not be out of the question.

We would probably have to supply 3 stadiums over 40k so a bit if expansion would be required at Cardiff City Stadium and The Liberty Stadium.

Forgot to mention that although being the home of football, a bid has been made by Argentina & Uruguay (and possibly Paraguay).

This would be stiff competition as in the Centenary year FIFA may return to the hosts of the first ever tournament.

With the tournament before being in USA/Canada it would be doubtful they would go to that side of the world twice in a row. Its normally worked in areas. 2030 could well be Europes turn or maybe Australia

I think the only federations that are restricted from bidding are North America and Asia as they have the previous 2 World Cups. The thought is it will go to either South America, Africa or Europe. If they are distributing it as fair as possible then it should probably go to Africa but there may not be a suitable host.

2010 - Africa (South Africa)
2014 - South America (Brazil)
2018 - Europe (Russia)
2022 - Asia (Qatar)
2026 - North America (USA, Canada, Mexico)

If we are being fair it would be due back in South America. As Europe also had it in 2006 (Germany). Unfortunately for Australia they moved to the Asian Federation (what the hell for) so Qatar would stop them from bidding that soon.

It has already been indicated that Europe will be the destination for the centenary World Cup Finals with Wembley being the strong favourites to host the final itself

If any bid were to include the better stadiums of other home nations, then that would be superb! :thumbright:

Wales has two superb stadiums with international pedigree and a reputation for putting on the big events. Of course, both are in the capital and only 'Premier' city of Wales ;) :laughing6:

Not sure how we would be able to give all the hosting nations a direct pathway to the Finals but surely that wouldn't stop us from wanting to host them in any part (as with the Olympics) here in Wales?

Perhaps an all-UK team, as in the Olympic competition? :?

If France wanted to claim the 'World Cup Tournament' is coming home (if they were awarded it) then that would be correct.

If England claim (as they do) that football is coming home because they invented it then that would also be true.

That said it is argued that 'football' emerged from the ancient Welsh game called Cnapan. So made be the true 'home' of football is in Wales ;)

Well this thread has gone sideways.

I thought Cnapan was a fore runner to Rugby.
