TEAM NEWS :bluebird:

Neil Warnock is close to having a full-strength squad to choose from, although he has revealed that Aron Gunnarsson and Callum Paterson are carrying knocks. :thumbright: :bluebird:

Nevertheless he's confident that both will be available for the trip to Humberside.

Meanwhile, Jazz Richards has returned to full training following a long-term ankle problem, although Saturday is likely to have come too soon for him to make a first team return.

Former Bluebird Allan McGregor is also in contention to feature against his old employers, with Crosby firmly denying that the goalkeeper is on the brink of returning to Scottish giants Rangers.

No serious injuries Neil Warnock has a strong/fit squad to pick from :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Injuries:

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I don’t think theres anything untoward."

"Gunnarsson picked up a knock as did Paterson, but with two games to go they should be okay."

About Hull City

In 2007–08, they achieved promotion to the top flight of English football for the first time in their history by winning the Championship play-off Final at Wembley Stadium. Their highest league finish was in 2013–14, when they finished 16th in the table, a season in which they also reached the final of the FA Cup.

It's been a difficult couple of days for Cardiff City, who after going down to defeat at the hands of Derby County on Tuesday now face a real fight to join Wolves in the automatic promotion places for next season's Premier League.

Cardiff could well be outside the top two before they take on Hull City on Saturday, with Fulham hosting already-relegated Sunderland the night before.

Then again, it's still very much in the hands of the Bluebirds, who still need to win their two remaining games to be absolutely certain of a return to the top flight.

This has been a promotion race full of twists and turns, and few would bet against on there being a few more before the season is up, with a trip to Humberside on Saturday now looking a little trickier than before.

Boss Neil Warnock won't be taking anything for granted, particularly after the off-colour performance at Pride Park.

William Jackson’s opinion - Can Tigers clip promotion-chasing Bluebirds’ wings?

Saturday 28th April 2018

It’s not unusual for Hull City fans to experience tension, anxiety and nerves on the final home game of the season, but for once all those feelings will be emanating from the away end. With two Championship matches to spare, the Tigers sealed their survival last weekend as a dramatic 5-5 draw at Ashton Gate proved enough.

Nevertheless, while the Tigers are playing for nothing but pride and places for next season, Cardiff find themselves well and truly in the race for promotion. After occupying a top two spot for most of the season, three losses in the last five games has put all their hard work at risk, with in-form Fulham breathing down their neck.

The defeat to Derby County on Tuesday will have done little to ease the pressure and the Bluebirds travel to the KCOM Stadium, knowing a win will ensure they head into the final weekend in the automatic promotion places.

Nigel Adkins will likely tinker with his side, as he has done successfully for the last month and with a number of faces all hoping to impress ahead of next season, motivation for the Tigers shouldn’t be an issue.

However, as a wretched season draws to a welcome close, the head coach will no doubt be keen to sign off the campaign with a victory and send long-suffering supporters home happy. It will be up to Cardiff to be the protagonists, given what is at stake for the club in the promotion picture. However, in the last five games City have scored 16 league goals, more than any club in the country, and you would have to be a brave man to bet against Adkins’ side from adding to that tally once more this weekend.

Prediction: Hull City 2-2 Cardiff City

Hull City form and progress leave coaching staff wishing season wouldn't end

Saturday 28th April 2018

A season for Hull City riddled with frustration and concern regarding relegation has no doubt left many drained and counting down the days to the summer break.

The need not so much for contemplation but for getting off the sun lounger to draw a deep line in the sand and move on, hopefully with lessons finally learned.

In a small office at the Hull City training ground there’s no thoughts of beaches and cocktails with those little umbrellas, it’s talk of recruitment, of pre-season plans and first of all, of beating Cardiff City.

Forget the towel being laid out already, for head coach Nigel Adkins and his assistant Andy Crosby the focus remains as steadfast as the cold December day which greeted their arrival.

That focus stems from a desire to finish the season on a high. But there’s also a tunnel vision because once the blinkers come off, the realisation will hit that there are only two games of the campaign remaining and while that may appeal to some, that’s certainly not the case for the City coaching duo.

“We don’t want the season to end,” explains Crosby, who stepped into media duties this week.

“Myself and Nigel are probably the freshest two people at the football club because we missed that first six months.”
