Met Office update for the Brentford area

Crucial information here for any Cardiff City fans ahead of this weekend’s game...

The Met Office have issued a yellow warning of wind and ice snow from Friday 2 March.
Remaining very cold across most areas on Friday, with severe weather involving snow, ice and wind. Into the weekend, temperatures look likely to slowly recover closer to normal from the south but will still remain cold. Wind chill and drifting snow will become less of an issue.
Delays and cancellations to public transport are likely, as are delays to travel on roads.

I’m a glass half full person and looking at Met Office forecast snow stops at around 2pm today in London and no more up to the match. Reading that BFC have plans in place, I think that’s pretty good.
Things change quickly though, both ways so we’ll just wAit and see I suppose

As much youve got to respect Brentford not calling it off 2 days before the game, i cant see it being on tbh. There would have to be a dramatic improvement both here and London in the next 36 hours and I just can't see that happening.

BRENTFORD UPDATE | The game as it stands is definitely going ahead and will need to get significantly worse to be called off, officials at Brentford have said. The weather forecast, as it stands, for that area is light snow until Friday evening, Saturday Ice from freezing rain.

"The covers will be removed on the morning of the match and James Linington, the referee for the fixture, will have the option of inspecting the playing surface early in the morning."

Can't say I'm too happy about this! All up to the referee's interpretation of what playable is and we'll only find out once we've all boarded our buses.

Staff at Brentford FC will be working flat out, with the help of Hounslow Council, over the next few days to try and ensure there can be football at Griffin Park this weekend. A plan is being put in place so Brentford’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Cardiff City on Saturday, 3 March, can go ahead as scheduled. This work includes clearing the pitch of snow and making the ground safe for more than 10,000 fans to attend the match.

The Griffin Park pitch is currently covered in snow and temperatures are below freezing. The Club intends to clear the pitch tomorrow, Friday, as the current forecast is for temperatures to rise slightly and for there to be less new snow falling. Frost covers will then be laid that should protect the pitch from freezing provided temperatures do not drop too low.

Hounslow Council have also offered their help. The council will be gritting the roads and pavements around Griffin Park today, tomorrow and Saturday to assist those travelling to the game. The Club would like to thank the council for their help.

The covers will be removed on the morning of the match and James Linington, the referee for the fixture, will have the option of inspecting the playing surface early in the morning. The Club is also in contact with Cardiff City to keep them informed. Fans are reminded that there is an amber warning in place for snow and ice and temperatures are expected to be very low with lots of snow falling but the Club will be doing all it can to get Saturday’s game on.

Hmmm all the warnings only essential travel!!

Roads etc extremely bad around Cardiff, Newport and warnings for more snow and ice.

Pitch can be pristine imo it will only put pressure on supporters to get there without the thought of conditions. Don't particularly want to hear of loss of life of anyone who attempted going.

Might clear up before hand, hope it does.

Latest weather report from here in London, is that no new snow fell over night and what is here has thawed a fair bit. If the snow fall today is fairly light then, I would be confident that the game should go ahead as long as the local council clear those residential streets around the ground

If we don’t have any more heavy downpours imho I think there’ll be a chance of getting there.
I think by all accounts the London end will be ok, it’s this end that’ll be the issue. Fingers crossed.

The problem will be - can the Cardiff supporters coaches get a there ?

Remembering many come from the valleys, and can supporters get to the pick ups ?

Also the drivers need to be available.

It's not just about the pitch.

Wouldn’t the game go ahead regardless of whether away support can get there?
I realise it’s s big issue for us City fans but I’m sure it influence the match going ahead or not.
