massive f**k up by our club and the police...they should have been on the grange end..

not quite sure what the thinking was as there were too many of them to accomodate just in A block.block B was full of ST holders
and the lower grandstand which they cleared and ended up pretty much filling was our family enclosure at the time

Totally agree, they were apparently all held up on coaches on the M4 due to traffic, then escorted in by Police, but the Police were all outside and opened the gates and put them all as one inside our grandstand, forgetting to have police ready inside

20 odd years later football hooliganism barely exists in the UK.

i walked across jubilee park same time as their train had pulled in the station at end of sloper rd..OB were holding main Cardiff group back under the bridge but there was another group waiting behind the canton which i could see but Swansea couldnt as they reached the supporters shop off it went...
anyway..when i got in the ground {which cant have been more than 10mins before KO.} Swansea were only just begining to fill A block.//wernt many people in the family enclosre but wasnt long before they were bombarded by bits of seats from above. and driven out . at the sight of this Cardiff invaded from both Canton and Bob and the jacks in there at that point shit it big time lots heading for exit..
the pic and the news footage from the night missed the original incident as did most of our lot having been held back, the footage shows the stand full and OB in there which was later when they attacked the granstand ST holders
who back then were families..bussinessmen and oldies without a single hooligan blood cell between the lot but seemed to hold their own.
Swansea evetually filled both the lower grandstand { family enclosure } and A block..
which begs the question ,had the families remained where were the rest of the jacks going to go.

Your spot on.

But it was a convey of their coaches arriving late, got the police unprepared and they let them all in,in one go.

Your right tv missed them starting it.

I was in the Bob Bank that night, but my mate Little Colin was in Section B and got hit badly by one of the seats.

I remember running onto the pitch from the Canton along with hundreds more and the bob bank lot as we neared the Grandstand the Jacks stopped singing and froze i remember the ones at the front looking like scared rabbits with a spotlight on them and not one of them tried to climb down and join us on the pitch..
The jacks are the most dislutioned bunch ever they honestly believe after all the taterings they have had off firms over the years they are up there with the best
Of our rivals i'd honestly put Bristol City , Bristol Rovers , Newport and Wrexham's firms ahead of them. Ive even seen Merthyr giving the jacks mob slaps in and around penydarren park around 1980/81

100% agree....and yes they flat out shit it, what cops that were there were dealing with the pitch invasion ,they gave it big later with the granstand but when it was there for them they didnt want it.
strange bunch.
they went on the old grange end in 74 which was more or less empty, sang Swansea once by which time we had about a 100 ithrough the turnstyles behind them..they ran and climbed over the fence without a punch being thrown...then spent ten years singing we took the grange end.

A mate of mine reckons they had a thread about The battle of Ninian on planet swans a few weeks ago and said some of the posts were comedy gold he said most replying to the thread were deluded..
One poster was saying that the Jacks were a better firm and the reason he gave was that they had more Youtube hooligan videos than Cardiff

My mate was in the block next to them with his four year old son, he's a businessman, but one of the toughest blokes you'll ever meet. He asked a copper if he could take his boy out of there as he was getting upset, the copper agreed and on the way out my mate chinned two jacks, spark out, took his lad home to Llandaff North and came back for the rest of the match.
