BREAKING: " NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES / UPDATES ON CARDIFF CITY "

Postby Forever Blue » Fri Oct 20, 2017 5:55 am

Neil Warnock and the Cardiff City team are flying up to Boro this lunch time and staying over night, So no excuses of tiredness and City won't have played for 8 days(a week last Friday) :thumbright: :bluebird:

BREAKING: " NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES TODAY " :bluebird:

Callum Patterson finally makes squad for Boro away :bluebird: :bluebird:

Neil Warnock keeping quiet on other injuries

Neil Warnock"
"We have the odd niggle, but I don’t want to divulge those"

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Gunnarson actually trained quite well yesterday. He didn’t join in with us but he did 45 minutes."

"I spoke to him after and we’re going to see because we had another two days after that.He was on crutches on Sunday but we’re going to see. He jarred the ankle, he’s always had a bit of a dodgy ankle but he trained yesterday and it was quite positive. We might even wait until tomorrow."

"I’m hopeful more than pessimistic."

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Training more competitive"

You’ve not lost two on the bounce

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I didn’t realise that but it will be a big test, they have a lot of the ball with some good players" -

Changes after Birmingham defeat?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"You look at the opposition and how they play and work out the best way to get a result really."

"If that means changes yes, but I won’t panic about changes for the sake of it. There’s one or two lads busting a gut to get into the side and the competition has been great."

"This week’s been great, some cracking performances on training."

NEIL WARNOCK ON LEE TOMLIN:

"There’s three or four of them, Feeney, Bogle, Wardy, they’ve done well, even Loic who’s not been involved."

"There’s certain times that I’ve not thought we were strong enough in midfield to warrant a Tomlin, I’ve felt we were a little bit under-strength regarding the opponent for Lee, but there will be games coming up where he will have to grasp the opportunity when he gets it, not just ten minutes as a sub, he will have to start."

Boro - ideal game for you after Birmingham?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I think so. We’re still classed as underdogs I think even though we are where we are in the league. It’s nice for us to go there with probably a bit less pressure, and I think we’re more ready for it."

"We didn’t know what a new manager was going to bring at Birmingham, with six changes and three who have never played before, it was difficult and we probably blame ourselves a bit - the staff I mean - but there are no excuses like that at Middlesbrough, we know they’re a good side, but we’ve got be prepared better and be ready for that."

LATEST ON:

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Training more competitive"

"You always get more edge to training, the frustration, after a defeat. When you don’t play well, the only thing you can do is get back on that training ground and get it out. We know what a tough league it is."

"I enjoyed the article on the money spent by others so it shows it’s a tough league when you see Middlesbrough spending £50m. You won’t get everything week-in, week-out and it’s about how we react, we have four big games and we’ll know more after that."

Gary Monk now Boro manager ex Swansea Manager

Boro boss Garry Monk is looking to halt a winless run of four games

Traore under consideration after 'bus-gate'

You might remember that Middlesbrough playmaker Adama Traore sat out of his side’s 2-2 draw with Barnsley last weekend after missing the team bus.

It was an incident that managed to throw his long-term career on Teeside into doubt.

However, Garry Monk appears wiling to move on and the former Villa man is under consideration for a start this weekend.

Monk told the local press:

“It’s up to the player to mould himself into that player who can fulfil all of those departments that will give him the best chance to reach it. There’s a long way to go for all of them in that sense, but that’s what we should be striving for, that’s the ambition.
In contrast, it looks like Saturday will come too soon for Rudy Gestede, who has been sidelined since August after surgery on a bleed in his leg sustained during a training session.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I didn’t realise that but it will be a big test, they have a lot of the ball with some good players" -

"I had Clayton earlier in his career who’s matured into a good player, and there’s people like Downing. The forward line, they finished the game last week with £40m worth of players. That’s not bad going is it. It’s a cracking test."

NEIL WARNOCK ON BOROS SPENDING BIG TIME

But money spent adds pressure?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I think he chairman said they will bash this league."

"Steve Gibson’s a super guy, a fabulous chairman, the way he’s supported it, but it’s a difficult league to smash no matter how much you spend."

"The Championship is not like any other. Money helps but it’s still difficult to get it right. It’s still about building a team ethic and spirit and that’s why I have to praise the lads who’ve come in and fitting into the way we wanted. We might not have got the individuals others have got, because you do pay for that sort of quality, but we make up for it in other ways."

"That’s the beauty of the league. I listened to Mick McCarthy the other day about Fulham being the best team they played after pasting Ipswich and then Fulham go and lose to Burton. It shows you can’t make sense out of the league and that’s why I love it so much."

On being Boro's dug-out nemesis

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I did smile at that. I know the chairman quite well up there, and last year at Rotherham we played them on our good run. They should have been six up at half time, the chances they missed, they were so superior, but we got in at 0-0 and changed things round and won 1-0. On the way home I’d get a text from the chairman saying ‘I just knew you’d sort it out at half-time!’ It’s a mutual respect."

"He’s been fantastic for the mangers up there, a lovely club, really well run, probably goes under the radar on the North East. I’m looking forward to it, good stadium, good fans, another challenge for us."

NEIL WARNOCK:

Kadeem Harris injury blow

"He trained for a couple of weeks with the Under 23s. I said I wished he was on bench v Derby because we would have won it. Within two minutes of me saying that to him he took a man on and fell awkwardly, the same ankle, we carried him off and took him for a scan."

"It wasn’t the same one, it was just way collided and fell got a hairline crack, which sounds silly but it’s better than if he’d done it again and it’s three or four weeks rather than three or four months."

Callum Patterson?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"He’s very close, I’m going to watch him on Monday at the stadium for the Under-23s. We’ll play three or four and we’ll be able to watch his progress. I think he’ll be in squad tomorrow. He’s done really, really well. Camp needs another couple of games at least."

Warnock backs Patterson to be a 'big favourite'

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Patterson will travel, yes. I’ve put some faith in him. I think he’s going to be a cracking player. What I said to the owner and the transfer committee was - because it’s difficult to sign a player who’s injured - that we have to look at the longer term because the £300,000 compensation was an investment"

"And although it didn’t affect my squad in pre-season, I felt the club should take my advice because the lad could be worth a lot of money when he’s fit."

"I don’t see much better Scottish full-backs so I think he’ll be pushing for the Scotland team again. He’s still waiting to get back that explosiveness after the injury, he’s still not quite up to scratch going backwards and is a little bit sluggish when people are taking him on, but we’re working on his strength now, but other than that his stamina is good. He’s a strong lad, he wants to win and score goals and do everything else. He’s frustrated at the minute - he kicks one or two in training because he’s not getting a game - but long term he’ll be a big favourite here."

Traore missing the team bus?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I’m on the outside but I’m sure Garry has dealt with it in the right way and I expect him to play against us. Sometimes these things can have a benefit for you because the player comes back so much more determined. You don’t know what’s gone on inside the camp, from a manager’s point of view, you have rules and regulations and you have to adhere to them whoever you are."

"If they do come short, you have to have discipline at the club and Garry knows that himself. He’s been a manager for a few years now. I used to have battles with him as a player and you always knew what you were going to get with him, 100%. I’ve watched his career and spoke a lot with him when he was at Leeds. I thought it was a fabulous move for him up to Middlesbrough."

"I remember him saying when he first started what was my biggest advice for him, and I told him make sure you get a good chairman - if you can. He’s had a mixture so far it’s fair to say."

Will Neil Warnock make changes?

Here’s what the boss had to say before the game...

Neil Warnock:

"You look at the opposition and how they play and work out the best way to get a result really. If that means changes yes, but I won’t panic about changes for the sake of it."

"There’s one or two lads busting a gut to get into the side and the competition has been great. This week’s been great, some cracking performances in training."

Lee Tomlin has been something of an enigma since joining in the summer, so when will we see him starting?

The suggestion from Warnock is soon....

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Lee is anxious to be involved, but so are a few others,” said Warnock on the former Middlesbrough midfielder."

"There’s three or four of them, Feeney, Bogle, Wardy, they’ve done well, even Loic who’s not involved and are busting a gut to get into the side. They’ve all got to be disappointed at moment but they don’t show it because dressing room attitude really good and credit to the staff to keep everybody happy. But there’s been certain times that I’ve not thought we were strong enough in midfield to warrant a Tomlin; I’ve felt we were a little bit under-strength regarding the opponent for Lee."

"But there will be games coming up where he will have to grasp the opportunity when he gets it, not just ten minutes as a sub, he will have to start.”
