Craig Noone and Adam Le Fondre (Bolton) ex Cardiff City Players

They were Costing Cardiff City about £200,000 a month and needed to be moved on.

Noone and Le Fondre both secured permanent moves to the Macron Stadium in the summer, with the latter's switch coming after two loan spells with the Trotters.

And the former Cardiff stars have seen their new club endure a nightmare start to the Championship campaign since gaining promotion from League One.

Phil Parkinson's side are rock bottom of the table having won just one of their first 12 league outings, although their maiden victory back in England's second tier came against Sheffield Wednesday in their most recent game.

Le Fondre netted in the opening day defeat to Leeds in August but has failed to score since while Craig Noone has also struggled to make a real impact since moving to the North West of England.

But the 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday could be the kick-start that Bolton - along with Le Fondre and Noone - desperately need this season.

nah mate....he is what he is..a lower league striker with a name that sticks in your mind...his records both before and since signing for us are similar...scores a few goals but strugles to convince managers to play him..
and you cant blame a young man offered lots of money for accepting it..
lots of fans seem to think we signed a top striker that didnt pull his weight
we actually signed a striker that WAS NOT a regular with Reading.

le fondre was awful for us - never looked like he wanted to be here, and was a waste of money.

noone maybe had one good game in 5 if you are being generous. for some reason people only seemed to remember his odd good game, and forgot the 4 in 5 when he was ineffective.

both were grossly overpaid for what we got from them, and have found their level at the bottom of the league.

i honestly though he tried hard but was just very poor.
Slade picked him for 17 consecutive games...the players longest run at this level for any club.

Le fondre was a terrible signing didn't want to come to Cardiff but we had a manager dull enough to pay his wages while other was not and he cost our club a fortune with his wages any player with any decency would have taken a pay cut and gone to a club he wanted to play for years ago. I find it difficult to hear why should he take a pay cut when he earns in a week what I and many others struggle to earn in a year.

However Noone was a great lad give us some great moments at City and should be remembered fondly as the scouse nut who was gentleman with every supporter and was a class player when on form and scored some great goals for us

Can't fault any of that.

Your spot on especially with Nooney who faded without trace over the past couple of seasons. ALF should have been out the door at least 2 years ago but no-one would take his contract on so we got stuck with paying the vast majority of it even though he played elsewhere.

Very poor business in both cases.

yes, he put a shift in, but was completely lacking in quality and composure in front of goal. he was paid handsomely to put the ball in the back of the net, and couldn't cut the mustard.

OGS made a number of terrible signings, though, and actually le fondre wasn't near being the worst.
