Every season, I hope/expect them to, but it never seems to happen.

17 man squad in those days! :o

No worries about having to loan out half the squad to save on wages!

Heavier pitches, lots more physical challenges, sturdy boots, few wore shinpads, hardly any "backroom staff" and still they managed with a much smaller squad than nowadays!

Remember this side well it was my 2nd year supporting city as a 12 year old. Great kit. I saved like buggery doing milk round to by the shirt.

Some of my favorites in this side Alan Campbell, Ron Healey, Joe Dwyer, Tony Evans

Great days when we had around 6-8k per home game if we were lucky.

'Tis Derek Showers..

I had that kit for Xmas 1977 .....didn't the fans vote to bring this kit back in 2007 - and the club produced something entirely different..

Some great music then as well- happy days..

You had a replica kit in 1977, wow you were well ahead of the times, fair play. Next to no one used to wear/buy them back then.

This would have been around the time that they amended the rule for substitutes. Only one sub was allowed until around this time, and this was increased to two in the mid 70's. When I first became interested in football, one sub was allowed and could only replace an injured player. I remember claims of fake injuries to get a sub on, with fans suspicious that it was more tactical related than injury.

1975/76 was my favourite ever season. Promotion from division 3. Great memories. RIP Jimmy Andrews, and Clive Charles.

i had one too, hell of a job finding one eventually got one in a sport shop in Barry..it was before they were mass produced...and were actually seen as trendy....funny about 10 years later along with the massive increase in merchandising how differently shirters were looked upon.

I was the only kid in school wearing a Cardiff top, everyone supported Liverpool, but my brother would have given me a kicking if I didn't support the city...if I recall, I had to wait until the year after for the shorts and socks...

Also bought the Subbuteo team with that kit from the toy shop on the Hayes for 99p..quite dear then. The most interesting thing about Subbuteo, is that the guy named it after a bird Latin name.

This shirt for City & the Wales shirt with the green & yellow stripes were my favourites. :old: :old: :old: :old:

Don't forget the scarf or two tied around your wrist, all the rage back then!

Best kit ever. Around that time I would also drool over what I think are the Adidas World Cup boots they are all wearing. Proper summer in 76 too, pitches were like concrete. Jumpers for goalposts. Trebor Blobs and a can of Cresta was sports nutrition. FA Cups that would last all day. And no company logos on the front of shirts.

What would that team think of players wearing GLOVES . As soon as the clocks go back the gloves go on ( if not before)
