About Leeds United

Leeds United Football Club is a professional association football club in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The club was formed in 1919 following the disbanding of Leeds City F.C. by the Football League and took over their Elland Road stadium. They play in the Championship, the second tier of the English football league system.

Leeds United have won three First Division league titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup. The club has also won two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups. The majority of the honours were won under the management of Don Revie in the 1960s and 1970s. Leeds lost the 1975 European Cup Final against Bayern Munich and reached the semi-finals of the tournament's successor, the Champions League, in 2001.

Leeds play in all-white kits, leading to their nickname being 'the whites'. The club's badge features the White Rose of York together with the monogram "LUFC". The club's anthem is "Marching On Together".

Same here. Have a feeling this may end up 0-0. Would'nt be the end of the world, a win would be a nice bonus.

I dunno why but I have a really good feeling about the game vs Leeds. I'm going Cardiff 1-0 Leeds. Think it will be close but I think home advantage and playing in from of the sky camera's for the first time this season might give us that boost, and when we play well we're on fire.

They are pretty dangerous at the moment but so are we so it will be a good match up! I think on home soil we will turn them over but there will be goals in this! I think 3-2 to us. :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Neil Warnock ready for table-topping clash against Leeds United

25th September 2017

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has praised former club Leeds United ahead of Tuesday's top-of-the-table clash between the two sides in South Wales.

The Bluebirds battled to a 2-1 win over Sunderland at the weekend to keep pace with their next opponents, who themselves had to dig deep to overcome Ipswich Town 3-2.

Warnock spent 14 months at Elland Road prior to being sacked by Massimo Cellino in April 2013, but he has hailed the Whites for the way that they have gone about their business, while also taking a slight dig at fellow pacesetters Wolverhampton Wanderers following their huge summer outlay.

"Leeds and Wolves have done brilliantly - Leeds probably better because they've not spent the money Wolves have," he told reporters. "It's a fabulous club, I really enjoyed myself there but it was in difficult circumstances. The wrong place at the wrong time - and the wrong chairman.

"It's going to be a great atmosphere [on Tuesday]. We've got 21,000 fans already in and I'm hoping with this result it's going to be 25,000. They'll bring a full contingent and it will be buzzing."

Warnock, who will turn 69 in December, hinted last week that he will consider quitting Cardiff at the end of the season should they earn a second promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United expect Jansson return against Cardiff City Leeds United's Pontus Jansson.

Monday 25 September 2017

Yorkshire Post

Pontus Jansson is firmly in contention to start for Leeds United in Tuesday night’s top-of-the-table clash at Championship hosts Cardiff City after not being risked against Ipswich Town.

Jansson failed to even make the bench for Saturday’s 3-2 win at home to Ipswich despite being reported fit by head coach Thomas Christiansen after the Swede picked up a “minor muscle” injury and suspected hamstring problem in the previous weekend’s 1-0 loss at Millwall. He was able to be in the squad but my decision was to leave him out. He was out because of an injury.

But the centre-back was only left out of the side as a precaution and Christiansen has confirmed that Caleb Ekuban remains his only absentee through injury.

Explaining why Jansson missed Saturday’s clash with Ipswich, Christiansen said: “It was because he had had a muscle problem and I didn’t want to risk. “He was able to be in the squad but my decision was to leave him out.

He was out because of an injury.” Asked if he had any other injuries, Christiansen replied simply: “Caleb Ekuban is out.” Ekuban was facing a minimum of eight weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a broken bone in his foot at the start of September.

Leeds United manager comments on Neil Warnock

HITC

Monday 25th September 2017

Neil Warnock takes on Leeds United in Wales tomorrow night.

Thomas Christiansen manager of Leeds United looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Nottingham Forest and Leeds United at City Ground on August 26, 2017 in Nottingham,...

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has suggested on the club's Facebook page that Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock will have extra motivation when the Whites visit South Wales tomorrow.

Christiansen's side travel to the Welsh capital on the back of a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town which kept them at the summit of the Championship.

However, Leeds are only top on goal difference ahead of Wolves and the Bluebirds in second and third respectively and victory would see Warnock's side leapfrog them.

The veteran manager spent 14 months in charge of United until parting company with the Yorkshire club in 2013, with Leeds only five points clear of the drop zone at the time.

And Christiansen, 44, is confident that his counterpart will have the added incentive of wanting to get one over on his former side.

Neil Warnock of Cardiff City looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Cardiff City at iPro Stadium on February 14, 2017 in Derby, England.

Asked on Leeds' Facebook page whether Warnock had extra incentive to win, Christiansen responded: "For sure. He's going to do everything he can to motivate the players for this game.

"It's a game against his old team and for sure he'll want the three points. He'll push his players to give more than they have to take this important win."

Leeds have a huge next five days or so. After visiting Cardiff, the Whites then have another tricky away trip in the form of Sheffield Wednesday in a Yorkshire derby, but emerging from both games with two wins would be huge for their promotion hopes and reaffirm the fans' belief that they are the real deal this season.

After clinching a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town at the Elland Road on Saturday, Leeds United are due to make a trip to the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday to face Cardiff City. Both these clubs have had a stupendous start to their Championship campaign this season, having collected 20 points from 9 games.

The Whites are placed at the top of the league table whereas the Bluebirds are placed 3rd, with goal difference separating these two clubs. Here is how we expect Thomas Christiansen to dish out his starting XI against Neil Warnock’s troops.

Defence

Pontus Jansson is expected to return to the starting line-up after being left out against Ipswich Town on Saturday as a precautionary measure after missing the Carabao Cup win against Burnley owing to his hamstring strain. Jansson should be teed up alongside Liam Cooper at the heart of the defence of Christiansen’s side, for they have been resilient together at the back.

Summer signing Felix Wiedwald should be given the gloves to start between the sticks. The custodian has been a fine shot-stopper so far and would be itching to bag a clean sheet away from home. At the left-back slot, Vurnon Anita should be given the nod to start whereas from the right-back position, Luke Ayling’s industry is likely to be seen from the very beginning.

Midfield
The duo comprising of Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips was absolutely dazzling and Christiansen is expected to stick with them. O’Kane and Phillips shielded the backline meticulously, knitted the side together as a unit and did maraud forward time and again against the Tractor Boys to rattle the defence of the opposition.

To be engineered at the no.10 slot should be Samu Saiz. Saiz, one of the summer signings of the Peacocks, has carved a sensational start to his life at his new club as he has already accumulated 2 goals and 2 assists in 8 Championship games and would be keen to continue his fine run of form in the next outing.

Attack

Right up front, Pierre-Michel Lasogga is expected to be given the nod to start, for he banged yet another goal in the last fixture to make it 3 goals in 4 games. He has been able to offer a sharp attacking tooth and it goes without saying that he would be keen to find the back of the net against Cardiff City as well.

From the left wing, Pablo Hernandez is seemingly likely to showcase his attacking prowess whereas, on the right wing, we expect Christiansen to use Ezgjan Alioski.

Cardiff defender Sol Bamba is set to return against his former side on Tuesday after being rested on Saturday.

Bluebirds full-back Lee Peltier should be fit despite a knock, while winger Junior Hoilett is likely to start.

Leeds defender Pontus Jansson could return to the XI after missing the win over Ipswich with a muscle injury.

Striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga returned to Germany on Saturday after the birth of his daughter but came back to training on Monday and will play.
