About Fulham

Fulham Football Club is a professional association football club based in Fulham, Greater London, England. Founded in 1879, they play in the Championship, the second tier of English football, having been relegated from the Premier League in 2013–14 after 13 consecutive seasons in the top flight. They are the oldest-established football team from London to have played in the Premier League.

The club has spent 25 seasons in English football's top division, the majority of these in two spells during the 1960s and 2000s. The latter spell was associated with former chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed, after the club had climbed up from the fourth tier in the 1990s. Fulham have never won a major honour, although they have reached two major finals: in 1975, as a Second Division team, they contested the FA Cup Final for the only time in their history, losing 2–0 to West Ham United, and in 2010 they reached the final of the UEFA Europa League, which they contested with Atlético Madrid in Hamburg, losing 2–1 after extra time.

The club has produced many English greats, including Johnny Haynes, George Cohen, Bobby Robson, Rodney Marsh and Alan Mullery. They play at Craven Cottage, a ground on the banks of the River Thames in Fulham which has been their home since 1896. Fulham's training ground is located near Motspur Park, where the club's Academy is also situated.

Good news Fulham sold Aluku to Reading for a big fee. So we gain vs Fulham then meet him later on vs Reading. By selling one of their better players , perhaps it is a sign that Fulham who was one of the favoured teams for top 6 is really less ambitious than we thought or needed the money. :thumbright:

Championship table-toppers Cardiff City will seek a sixth successive win to start the season when they travel to Fulham on Saturday.

Neil Warnock’s men secured a top-half finish in the second tier last term but have been tipped by many to do better this time round, and based on their opening five games, they may well do just that.

The Bluebirds edged past Burton Albion on the opening weekend before securing back-to-back home wins over Aston Villa and Sheffield United, and consecutive 2-1 successes at Wolves and then at home to Queens Park Rangers means Warnock’s men sit top of the division at the first of the season’s international break.

Team News
Fulham
Sone Aluko joined Reading before deadline day and his replacement Sheyi Ojo, signed from Liverpool, will make his second appearance following a solid showing away at Ipswich.
Jordan Graham, who joined the club on loan from divisional rivals Wolves, will likely fill in for Neeskens Kebano, who is doubtful after picking up a knock.
Floyd Ayite is also believed to be doubtful, whilst Lucas Piazon is a long-term absentee following an ankle injury picked up against Leeds.

Cardiff
After such a strong start to the season, Neil Warnock will likely name a similar team to the one that overcame QPR 2-1 prior to the international break.
He bolstered the squad further by adding Liam Feeney and Craig Bryson on loan from Blackburn and Derby respectively, but they'll find it hard to break straight into the starting XI.
Lee Camp and Callum Paterson are both long term absentees and won't feature.

Tom Cairney out of Cardiff clash

Friday 8th September 2017

Fulham captain Tom Cairney will miss tomorrow’s Craven Cottage clash with Championship leaders Cardiff City due to injury, Slavisa Jokanovic has confirmed during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

The playmaker has been troubled by a knee injury since the summer, having had an operation in Barcelona to repair a meniscus tear during pre-season, and was withdrawn from the Scotland squad for their recent World Cup qualifiers in order to manage his fitness following his return in the 2-0 win at Ipswich last month. Cairney, who had an injection to ensure he could start the game at Portman Road, is definitely out of tomorrow afternoon’s game and he is not the only first-team figure Fulham will be without.

Date and Time: Saturday 9th September (15:00)

Venue: Craven Cottage

Referee: Tony Harrington

Neil Warnock’s men will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the season when they travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Cardiff City have enjoyed a fantastic start to the Championship season and will hope to keep up the momentum when travelling to London to face Fulham on Saturday.

The Bluebirds are currently the only team in the Football League to have a 100% record and if they can earn three points against Slavisa Jokanovic’s side, it will mean Warnock’s men would have won six out of their first six Championship encounters.

It won’t be easy by any means, though, with Fulham being tipped with promotion prior to the season starting and they certainly have players in the likes of Tom Cairney which can hurt teams.
okanovic has brought an attractive brand of football to Craven Cottage and at times are a joy to watch but they have endured a frustrating start to the Championship season so far.

The Whites currently sit in 14th position in the Championship table but will be looking to stop the Bluebirds impressive start to the season on Saturday evening as they did with Ipswich before the international break, winning 2-0.

Cardiff City have failed to defeat Fulham in the last four meeting between the two sides. The last team the Bluebirds were victorious was in 2015, a 1-0 home win when they returned to the traditional blue colour.

Cardiff City go in search of their sixth consecutive Championship victory when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

The Bluebirds will be backed by an army of more than 3,000 travelling supporters in the English capital as they look to maintain their 100% winning start to the 2017-18 campaign against Slavisa Jokanovic's side.

Neil Warnock has no new injury concerns, but it's a totally different story for Fulham boss Jokanovic.

He's without a number of first team players including Lucas Piazon, Tom Cairney and Rui Fonte for the visit of the league leaders, who go into the match fresh from the back of seeing Warnock and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing claim the manager and player of the month awards respectively for August.

Slav's programme notes

This is what the Fulham boss has written about today’s opponents, Cardiff, in the matchday programme:

Slavisa Jokanovic:

Cardiff have had the perfect start to the campaign and they’ll want to continue their good form.
Neil Warnock will have his side well organised as you’d expect for this encounter and they arrive in positive mood.
We must be ready for the challenge and will try to play at our highest level.
