CITY AND NEIL WARNOCK: REMARKABLE EFFECT AND STATISTIC

The remarkable Cardiff City statistic that proves the Neil Warnock effect is a genuine thing
By Ian Mitchelmore

The Bluebirds' veteran boss can do no wrong at the moment

Cardiff City maintained their unblemished start to the 2017-18 campaign with a truly magnificent 2-1 win over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

The result means that the Bluebirds and Mick McCarthy's Ipswich are the only two sides to boast 100% records after the opening four matches of the new Championship season.

Several pundits, journalists and fans labelled Cardiff's display against Nuno Espirito Santo's side as a 'typical Neil Warnock performance'.

And regardless of what you believe that statement actually means, it's certainly proved to be a fruitful style for the Bluebirds.

It's a system that has seen Cardiff go from strong relegation favourites to serious promotion contenders in less than a year.

And when you compare Cardiff's success in 2017 with that of the other sides in the Championship, there's no doubting that opposing clubs should be wary of knocking Warnock's methods.

The Bluebirds' triumph over Wolves was their fourth league win of the season and their 15th Championship victory in 2017, more than any other side has managed in England's second tier this calendar year.

Jaap Stam's Reading are one behind with 14 while Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday have managed 13 this year.

Note: Brighton managed 13 wins, whilst Huddersfield and Newcastle both secured 12 Championship victories in 2017 but have had four fewer matches in the division having gained promotion into the Premier League.

It all serves to show how different an animal the Bluebirds are under their current manager.

Even more remarkably, the win at Molineux means Cardiff now have as many league wins in 2017 as they managed in the whole of 2016, and they still have four months left to add to their tally, with 11 more Championship games due to be played in the Welsh capital before the turn of the year.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Neil Warnock effect :ayatollah: :notworthy:

Someone mentioned to me that in Warnocks' short career with us he has already come from behind to win a game more than Dave Jones did in his six seasons with us.
Can anyone confirm?
I must admit..... Coming from behind to win a game is certainly something I'm not used to seeing.
Warnock has been incredible for us.
