ANDREAS CORNELIUS: VINCENT TAN INSTRUCTS LAWYER TO LOOK AT DEAL FROM 2013 FOR THE SECOND TIME.
BBC

I've always supported VT in what he has done for the club and, yes whilst I now regret it, he also had my support during those troublesome years - but I do question whether this investigation is needed.

In the grand scheme of things, and over time, it is not a lot of money - and I dare say, whilst Cornelius was injured, we would have had insurance in place anyway - or at least should have.

I think in reality VT would be better spent looking at his own losses over the last 3 years and investigating why he has lost £760,000,000 (yes £760m) since 2014 - Not a measly £10m - but yes £760m

I dont think, even with all the shoes my missus buys, I could lose £760m if I had it :laughing6:

If he has been fiddled out of money by an employee he has every reason to continue with this. If you fiddled your boss out of money a few years back, you would'nt expect to go up to him and say "look, I stole a lot money from you but this was a couple of years back so I think you should knock things on the head and forget about it". Does'nt work that way, theft is theft and cannot be swept under the carpet just because it may have been stolen from a wealthy man, or because the alleged thief happens to be liked by some fans.
If nothing wrong has been done, I agree that this should not be brought up every few months. However, I doubt if an astute businessman would be continuing with this unless he honestly believes that someone has been fiddling him out of his money. If I was Malky and knew I had done nothing dodgy, I would be taking Mr Tan to court for slander and loss of earnings that has been the result of having his name smeared in the press every time this crops up. I am surprised that he has taken no action to date, but perhaps he is either biding his time, or knows he would lose. Time will tell.

ANDREAS CORNELIUS: VINCENT TAN INSTRUCTS LAWYER TO LOOK AT DEAL FROM 2013 FOR THE SECOND TIME.

Tan has already spent over a £1mill investigating Malky on the Cornelius deal and found nothing.

Tan has had Malky investigated for Racism and Malky was cleared.

Tan instructs lawyers on Cardiff City's behalf to investigate Cornelius deal.

Friday 18th August 2017

By Ian Hunt

BBC Wales Sport

Cardiff City have launched a fresh investigation into the signing of Andreas Cornelius in July 2013.

The Danish striker, then 20, arrived for a club record fee of an initial £7.5m but failed to score in 11 games.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan believes the club paid too much - and has instructed lawyers to take a detailed look into the transfer. Tan says he has new information on the matter.

It comes as Tan renewed his attack on former boss Malky Mackay.

Tan called Mackay an "idiot" over the Cornelius signing.

The striker was Scotsman Mackay's first purchase after guiding Cardiff to promotion to the Premier League, but he rejoined FC Copenhagen after just six months in Wales.

Cornelius rediscovered his form at Copenhagen with a tally of 45 goals over his two spells with the club.

Cornelius joined Italian Serie A side Atalanta this summer.

"It was unfortunate that we only stayed in the Premier League for one season," said Tan.

"You know the main reason, I always say, and I have told Mehmet [Dalman, Cardiff's chairman] the same, is that we spent a lot of money there - I think it was £50m.

"What did we get? We paid £10.5m [based on add-ons] for Cornelius who didn't even play 45 minutes and then the manager said he was a project.

"I'm in the Premier League, I need to survive. What an idiot he [Mackay] is."

Tan added, "You pay for a big striker £10.5m you should play him 90 minutes, not 45 minutes, five minutes, 10 minutes. Because he's a project he [Mackay] says, finally, he says he [Cornelius] is a project.

"How come I'm in the Premier League and you're finding time to do a project for the future? What rubbish is that? And you pay £45,000 a week for a project? Rubbish!"

It doesn't matter if it was £500 !
I can't see tan continuously waistin money on something that isn't there
This could actually be great for football by exposing what's goes on starting with agents

I fully agree with you that if an ex-manager or employee has defrauded the club then we should pursue the matter because ultimately some of that money has come out of our pockets.

However, I would think it prudent that until there is absolute evidence of such wrong doing it would be better to keep quite rather than drag the whole business up again and possibly derail the feel good factor which is returning to the club.

Spot on Tony :thumbright: :thumbright:

Tan should just get on with it and then expose the outcome when its finally sorted.
To be honest he's already failed on two cases with Maly, one with Riddler and one with Sam and costing nearly £5mill, yet lost all of them, money to burn.

Tan actually keeps looking the fool.

I agree I would probably just leave well alone, but then again we are talking about a lot of cash, and an upset billionaire.

That season wouldn't have taken much to stay up - even with everything that went on, we weren't actually relegated until something like last three games. if half of this money had been spent wisely, we would have stayed up in my opinion.

£7.5 m (or is it £10.5m) plus £45k a week (over £2m a year) for a number of years when ACorn was only on about £2k a week at Copenhagen....

I believe there was something 'untoward'. I believe this was too massive simply be a mistake by an inexperienced manager. Possibly it was though, and someone just completely took us to the cleaners because he was inexperienced. Either way, if I was a billionaire, I would probably fancy finding out exactly which it was.

I dont even think it was isolated. I loved Medel for instance, but he was just the wrong fit for City at that fee the time. Warnock would have picked up someone like him for £1m.

We wasted so much cash, and a great opportunity to establish ourselves in the premier league, and if it was my cash on the line maybe I would be like a dog with a bone too. As a mere mortal though, I say let's move on.

Love some of these comments. I'm no fan of Mr Tan but you have to wonder if these fans slating him for this would have the same opinion if it was them who had been stitched up and lost money as a result. Easy to be free and easy with someone else's money, may be different if it was their money that had gone. It has obviously affected Malky as far as jobs in football are concerned, why has'nt he fought back?

While it wouldn't surprise me if some of Malky deals were dodgy, 3 specifically spring to mind however I think it's time Tan let it go. Suppose it's easy for us to say as it isn't our money.

I think everyone knows there is something not quite right with this transfer and it is blatent to see. The fee paid was excessive at the time compared to the other transfers such as Medel and Caulker. I can think of any other player recently that has gone from a salary of 6k to 44k over 7 times his original salary.

To put it into context it's like Declan John moving to another club and getting 35k a week.

If new evidence has come to light then yes it should be investigated. Tan has done good for the club but also has made some mistakes but if he believes that there has been dodgy dealings I am all for it.

People talk about wasting money on investigations and it might have cost the club money but he did get to the bottom of who Langston was with Sam continually denying it to every man and his dog including friends on here.

I do agree though that it should be kept out the public demain unless a statement has come from the club. I am also surprised Malky has not come out fighting.

I think what's highlighting the issue more is how Warnock is going about his business and working on his projects at next to nothing in terms of wages and fees. Long may this continue.

My Opinion Rebrand/laughed in our faces/8 Managers/6 CEO'S/ Debt beyond control, £mill wasted on investigations/everyone else can't always be wrong, Tan must start taking the blame.

I will leave it there, whilst Tan wastes another £mill investigating.

I honestly can't be bothered discuss him anymore, getting really boring, end off.

Thr buzz at the club is back but Tan when interviewed after we beat villa did say how he is pleased but went to dig up the past and have a go at malky again.
I would say do what you have to to Tan keep it Away from the forfront of thr club deal with it behind the seen and just be positive about the fact we are all loving it at mo.
Keep it away from city do what you want away from us the boys hard graft in he.
