Aron Gunnnarsson's famous Euro 2016 beard has been turned into a fishing fly
The Cardiff City star's legendary beard hasn't been thrown away... far from it!

This time 12 months ago, both Wales and Iceland were celebrating vintage Euro 2016 results.
Wales had just beaten Northern Ireland 1-0 to secure a quarter-final place, while Iceland produced the shock of the tournament to beat England 2-1 in the last 16.

One of the iconic images of that game was the picture of bearded Iceland captain — and Cardiff City star — Aron Gunnarsson leading the 'Thunderclap' after the England victory. It was an image that was beamed around the world and became emblematic of the Viking Warrior spirit that had been of the heart of Iceland's run to the last eight.

So in keeping with the hype, Gunnarsson hasn't binned the beard, despite shaving it off months ago.

His brother, Arnor Thor Gunnarsson, revealed on Instagram he'd received a gift from Aron of a fishing fly in the Icelandic national colours, red, blue and white — with a part of Aron's beard on it.
He posted a message saying: "A gift from Aron….The Euros beard as a fishing fly."
What better way to remember the famous beard and the fabulous Euros?

Arnor, who is 18 months older than the Cardiff midfielder, is a professional sportsman in his own right, playing handball for Bergischer in the German Bundesliga, as well as the Iceland national team.
He also enjoys fishing and is clearly a patriot, as well as a loving brother.
