There have been so many comments on what a strong defence we have - but this is not true.
We conceded so many goals last year and rarely did we keep a clean sheet. Part of the problem is Morrisson. He is a good player but he lacks pace and will always 'switch off' at least once or twice in a match which often proves costly. In fairness our lack of creativity and goals often put added pressure on our defenders. Having said that conceding the amount of late goals we did is unacceptable. So - our so called strong defence is a myth. But it CAN be. If we play 442 - Manga and Bamba must be the pairing. If it is a 3 man defence it must be these 2 plus either Morrisson or Connolly. If we play a 3 it needs protection and Halford is not the answer.

true indeed........we conceded 61 but that 3 less than 3rd placed Reading.
and 19 of those came in the first 11 games under trollope.
under Warnock we conceded 1.2 points per game and if you extend that to a full 46 game season thats 56 goals conceded.which is less than play off club Fulham..and promoted through play offs Huddersfield. both conceded.

thanks, but ive always been a great believer in looking at the...whole team performances..and not on not scoring enough or just conceding too many..
and just as a matter of interest ..did you know that Cardiff have both been relegated and been the club that conceded the divisions least goals in the same season..?
could only happen to us.

A promotion success is built on foundation at the back. Warnock is old school and knows this. That's why everything he is doing at the moment smells just right. I am so looking forward with optimism this year. Moving in the right directions
- most certainly.

You can concede 5 goals in a game but if you score 6 or more you've still won.

Totally disagree wouldn't swap what we have defensively with any other squad in the Championship.

Excellent post mate. That's how it is looking at the bigger picture.
On a side note I thought we looked immense at villa with manga and Morrison CB and bamba playing just in FRONT.

I think Warnock will cement the leaks in our defence. He's a proper manager, he won't allow the defensive to give the opponents a sniff.
