Very strongly rumoured Whitts is signing for Bristol City
Wed May 31, 2017 1:34 pm
Would be a bit gutted if he signed for them, but he could stay in the same house it makes sense!!
It would spoil his record here I think signing for a derby rival....

Sounds strange a club legend signing for a big club rival, unless he want's to stay in wales. I still think we should offer him a half decent contract just out of principal for what he's done for us he stayed loyal to us when pl clubs we're coming in for him. Thats not to mention what he brings in football terms , wish him well either way a true club legend

Just a couple of pm's I received saying that he has talked to them, as far as I am concerned no strong facts, just strong rumours that Whitts is considering moving to Bristol City ?

Thats awful news if true
Wed May 31, 2017 2:14 pm
Surely not. Would certainly put a dampener on all his years here if true

Fair enough, I hope they aren't accurate! If we played every week he'd contribute to a lot of goals there.
Wed May 31, 2017 2:21 pm
That would be a shame
Wed May 31, 2017 2:24 pm
Wish him well wherever he goes.Countless good memories and so what if he goes locally he had to do what's right for him and his family.

Man will never dim in my eyes. Some people need to grow up. If he can't get the terms he want's here he'd be a foo-fooing idiot not to sign for someone who'll pay him proper money, RIVAL OR NO. Can't take away what he's done here, like many have said on here over the years; Peter Whittingham-he does what he wants

If he goes its with my very best wishes.

I don't think it's about the money it seems from what warnock said he has only been offered a 1 year deal
Wed May 31, 2017 2:32 pm
If it gets him game time at the same level, without having to move house, why wouldn't he? Hope he stays with us of course, but two cup finals and countless memories keep him in very high esteem with me.
Wed May 31, 2017 2:33 pm
Well it's clearly not about the money with Whitts as NW states he is looking for a 2 year contract and we have only offered him 1 year.
Clearly NW doesn't want him here, despite what he says, otherwise we would never allow a player of Whitts talent to leave the club. A sad ending for a player who has given 10 years fantastic service to our club.

Let him go weve had his best years out of him

If true I have to say I'm not devastated by the news, his best days are behind him, even his biggest fan would have to acknowledge that
Wed May 31, 2017 2:55 pm
Sounds like he is just looking at his options at the moment. Still early days and he won't be short of option, if he (or maybe NW?) decides his Bluebird days are over?
His preference is certainly to stay here but sadly that can't always be the reality
Wed May 31, 2017 3:34 pm
Oh anywhere but there.
Wed May 31, 2017 3:35 pm
He goes with my good wishes. I'm not really concerned who he signs for. That's his business.

Well if its not about the money
Let him half the wages we have offered . Him for a one year contract
Then we can give him a two year contract for the same money as his one year offer

Great contribution.

Witts was hardly born and bred cardiff and I full Cardiff boy, if he wants to go to Bristol that's fine he's done this club well. Take Jazz Richards for example now he's a full Swansea lad coming to Cardiff is a lot worse than witts to Bristol.
Wed May 31, 2017 4:20 pm
He had better not ...
Wed May 31, 2017 4:24 pm
He's just moved into a new house in Dinas Powys so this makes sense. He likes the area and doesn't want to move. Great move for him.
Wed May 31, 2017 4:35 pm
Personally I dont consider Bristol City our rivals - not in the sense of likely Promotion Candidates.
I do think this just shows the professionalism of Whitts - that he would prefer to be playing "for someone" rather than be taking his money for sitting on the bench or playing in the reserves.
Wed May 31, 2017 4:38 pm
I don't believe it
Wed May 31, 2017 4:53 pm
Whitts agent wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't find out what he could get.
Bristol would mean he wouldn't have to move, so what are his options, are they what he thought or is a one year deal at city the market value.
I don't think we'll be playing a high tempo pressing game if Gunnar and Ledley are the CM's so he'll still have a role to play.
Wed May 31, 2017 4:55 pm
Wurzle Whitts? Say It Ain't So.
Wed May 31, 2017 4:57 pm
wish him well he has been brilliant for us but time to move on.
