There was officially 4,282 Newcastle fans away at Cardiff City.



4,282 Geordies Away at Cardiff tonight

Newcastle asked for 10,000 tickets, Cardiff rearanged the home end and moved home fans out to accommodate the Newcastle fans.

Cardiff eventually gave them 6,000 tickets.

Four weeks ago Newcastle put them on sale, they never sold out to their season ticket holders (50,000 average at home) and members,so Newcastle put them on general/ open sale and eventually brought 4,350 fans.

Over the years Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday have brought 10,000 fans to Cardiff.

Well done to the Geordies for coming down on a Friday/Bank Holiday weekend and travelling nearly a 700 mile rd trip

For reasons beyond my control I'm watching it on the TV and it sounds like a cracking atmosphere, Cardiff fans are more than holding their own in the singing stakes to be fair, that's how it comes across on the TV anyway

Think the official figure was 4300 ish

Seems a decent bunch overall and had a sense of humour before, during and after the game

Quite a few in the Ninian Stand for some reason but I saw no real issues
