Gareth Bale Audaciously Claims He Didn't Foul John O'Shea

Sky Sports

Saturday 25th March 2017

You don't need to have been watching football for that long to know that football players, managers and pundits alike are capable of spouting some extraordinary bollocks when a microphone is put in front of them.

And Wales captain Gareth Bale is no different.

Last night, the Real Madrid man was beyond lucky not to receive a straight red card after narrowly avoiding inflicting a serious injury upon John O'Shea with a wreckless studs up challenge.

Somehow, Bale's lunge was deemed worthy of only a yellow card, a booking that will cause him to miss Wales' next World Cup qualifier, against Serbia in June.

Yet the former Tottenham man saw no problem with his attempt to win the ball and, during his post-match interview on Sky Sports, the Wales skipper even claimed O'Shea had kicked him.

Maybe if Bale watches the incident back a few more times, he'll realise how lucky he was to remain on the pitch.

We doubt John O'Shea shares Bale's opinions on the incident that could have cost him a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Fortunately for the Sunderland man, he escaped injury free, which sadly cannot be said for Seamus Coleman, who suffered a horrific broken leg after a sickening challenge from Neil Taylor.

His foot was up but I honestly think he was trying to get on the end of Gunter's cross. Writer of this article please note: ASHLEY WILLIAMS IS WALES CAPTAIN NOT GARETH BALE!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Realised what a load of crap the article would be when the writer can't even get the captain right.

I gotto be honest for me it was 100% sliding in to get a flick on the cross. total commitment to get on the end of it. if he connected we'd have wont he game he missed and the follow through was inevitable

Tbh he had no chance to get ball and even if he did it still wouldn't have gone in as he was outside the line of the post !! Guess he was lucky it was by the goals as if anywhere else on pitch a red card was a possibility!
