Plymouth Argyle fans are loving Matty Kennedy as Neil Warnock proves prophetic with 'set the league alight' prediction

Monday 20th February 2017

We already know Neil Warnock is a genius.

But it turns out he's a prophet too, after predicting the current sparkling form of loan winger Matty Kennedy with Plymouth Argyle.

Warnock claimed the 22-year-old would 'set the league alight'. And so it has proved, with the former Everton youngster hitting three in three for his new club, winning the hearts of the Green Army.

His heroics have included two Man Of The Match displays and an outstanding goal in the 3-0 Devon derby win over Exeter.

His goal against Hartlepool in a 1-1 draw on Saturday was also nominated for Sky Sports' goal of the day.

Kennedy was sent out on loan to the Pilgrims on deadline day, with Warnock saying the youngster needed regular first team football.

The Bluebirds boss said: "Kennedy, I wanted to see him play, rather than 20 minutes here and there, so Plymouth are sending me a DVD of every game.

"I will keep an eye on him and I think he will set the league alight."

Not for the first time, Warnock has been proved spot-on, with Kennedy himself posting his successes on social media in recent weeks.

Plymouth fans are very impressed too

Kennedy is certainly pressing his case for more first team football when he returns to Cardiff. But for now the Plymouth faithful are just happy to see him in a green shirt.

One even questioned "how have we got Matty Kennedy to play in League Two?"
