Sky Sports are claiming that Allan McGregor’s move to Cardiff is done and he is already in the Bluebirds’ squad.

" UPDATED " Sky Sports

Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor is set to join Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season.

The Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order at the KCOM Stadium and Sky sources have indicated new Tigers head coach Marco Silva is prepared to let him join Cardiff.

Eldin Jakupovic is Silva's number one goalkeeper while McGregor's compatriot David Marshall is the number two option

Cardiff are set to sign hull keeper Alan mcgregor... he's not David Marshall but he's still a very good keeper in this division

Just seen this also, would be very happy with this hes got plenty of experience with Rangers, Hull and internationally, yes it's not Scotland's number one but at least it's their backup. :laughing6:

He is just coming back from injury though so hopefully he is in good shape asap, happy with this over Amos for sure, Mgcregor No 1 and Murphy as backup sounds good to me, even though Murphy has done a good job since coming in to the team.

Probably ok for a loan till the end of season. Hardly a long term prospect -will be 35 by the end of January.

Better keeper than Marshall but a bit injury prone.

If this happens then there was no need for Michelle Marshall to aplogise. She was on the money with her tweet. :)

There was also a guy on Twitter who 5 hours ago asked sky bet for odds on MacGregor joining us. Proper ITK

Don't forget Curci on trial also could be two very decent shrewd deals from Mr Warnock in the GK position.

I see the WO has linked us with Boaz Myhill - I'd be keen for that one seeing as he does nothing at West Brom

He's been solid, actually saved that shot the other day. Nobody said he was dropped, I think he will let him keep the jersey but if things go wrong mc Gregor will come in. Very good keeper

Murphy is okay but think warnock is looking for experienced guy to help gel defence and McGregor fits the bill

If McGregor comes here he will go straight into the team.

Thought we where getting a premier keeper. Not a premier 3`d choice keeper

Edit: Not even a premier 3`d choice, its Hull..

Too right, he's decent, he will give the defence more confidence, Bamba and Manga and maybe an addition, and the clean sheets are looking a step closer .....

He's not wrong - having thought about it I'm wondering whether he's actually that good a keeper - I know he's been injured but technically Gordon/ Gilk are Scotlands back up keepers, he's ok but to get excited about I'm not sure will have to see how he goes I guess

Do you think a premier league club would loan out their no. 1 goalie or their back up goalie.

He's better than what we've got, and will be motivated to do well, Warnock would make sure of that anyway, and will no all about him....

Scotlands no.2, Scotlands, Scotlands no.2!!!!

As long as he's over his injury he's as good as any British keeper.

Seen some amazing displays from him in the past.

Touch and go between him and Marshall as to who's the next,
Marshall for me, but many Scots prefer McGregor.

All depends on whether the back injury has permanently reduced his flexibility

Allan McGregor set for Cardiff City loan move

By Barney Corkhill, Staff Reporter

Last Updated: Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 21:17 UK
Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor is reportedly edging towards joining Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old was Hull's first-choice goalkeeper on their way to promotion from the Championship last season, but he has since fallen behind David Marshall and Eldin Jakupovic in the pecking order at the KCOM Stadium.

McGregor has not been included in a single matchday squad by either Mike Phelan or new Hull boss Marco Silva this term, and now looks set to drop back down to the second tier in search of first-team football.

Cardiff currently sit 18th in the Championship table and have one of the worst defensive records in the division so far this season.

The Bluebirds are six points clear of the relegation zone, though, and currently boast a game in hand over the teams around them in the table.

He may be third choice at Hull, but he's an excellent keeper. Remember playing them a couple of years back and he was outstanding.
Murphy is good, but primarily a shot-stopper. He isn't convincing in other aspects.
A short while ago McGregor was picked ahead of Marshy for Scotland.

He will be our 1st choice keeper without a doubt.

Cardiff City look set to land Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor on loan for the rest of the season according to Sky Sources. The Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order and Cardiff are set to snap him up.

McGregor knows the Championship very well, helping take Hull City back into the Premier League last season after relegation the previous year. He has found game time hard to come by this season with the arrival of David Marshall from Cardiff City and Eldin Jakupovic who seems to be the current number one.

In Hull City’s rise from the Championship last year, McGregor played in 44 games, making 104 saves, conceding just 34 goals and keeping 19 clean sheets in total. He also has a wealth of big-game experience behind him with 52 Premier League and 212 Scottish Premiership appearances to his name – appearances where he has kept 108 clean sheets.

Hull City have recently appointed Marco Silva as their new boss in a bid to avoid the drop from the Premier League again this season. Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has been growing frustrated of defensive lapses which has cost his sides crucial points in their bid for a mid-table finish this season. He has vowed to find the solution and this signing could well be the key at the back.
Warnock has already boosted his defensive options since arriving by signing Sol Bamba who arrived on a free transfer after his contract at Leeds United was mutually terminated after only one month of the season gone. Warnock is known for signing experienced players rather than youngsters and McGregor certainly fits the mould, having played many times for the likes of Glasgow Rangers and Scotland.
