Aberdeen fans are gutted, which is a good sign.

But we can only judge him on what we see. Hopefully, assuming he signs, he'll inject something different to our team.

Makes sense with Noone and Pilkington linked with moves away.

A journo has just said on twitter that Don fans should relax as Hayes is not in talks with us and will be jetting to Dubai with the rest of the squad tomorrow.
Anyone know if the rumour is from a reliable source?

I've seen that as well.

But Wales on line and the other one on here are saying different.
Plus two friends from Aberdeen say he is coming to Cardiff.

That sounds good Annis.
That journo is spouting a lot of stuff so I'm guessing they can't all be right.

I agree Annis.
We desperately need a real pacey winger. Looking at YouTube he reminds me of a young Bellamy as he's so direct and does look very fast.

Cardiff City are targeting Aberdeen's Republic of Ireland winger Jonny Hayes.

Hayes, 29, has scored six goals in 22 matches for the Scottish Premiership side this season, including one in the Europa League.

He won the 2010 Scottish First Division title with Inverness and then the 2014 Scottish League Cup with Aberdeen.

Cardiff have already signed utility player Greg Halford from Championship rivals Rotherham and striker Ibrahim Meite from non-league Harrow Borough.

Now they are trying to add Hayes, who has two caps for the Republic, as manager Neil Warnock looks to revamp his squad in the January transfer window.

It'll be the end of the season by the time Pilkington gets there and Noone will get lost...

Pilks is still a valuable asset to us imo. Gives us a goal threat in a side devode of goal threats. It's time to go for noone though.

Cardiff City have been linked with Aberdeen’s Johnny Hayes.

Among other places, the BBC are reporting that the Republic of Ireland winger is a target of Neil Warnock’s.

Cardiff City close in on deal for Irish international – reports

Cardiff City are closing on a deal for Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes as Neil Warnock looks to strengthen his squad.

The Bluebirds are in talks with Aberdeen to sign Republic of Ireland international Jonny Hayes and reports by HITC Sport say a deal could be close.

Neil Warnock is said to be keen on the winger who has been with current club Aberdeen since 2012, making more than 140 league appearances and scoring 19 times.

Hayes is has two caps for Republic of Ireland and both arrived in March last year, in friendly fixtures against Switzerland and Slovakia.

The Bluebirds’ target begun his career at Reading academy but he joined Leicester City in 2007 without making an appearance for the Royals’ first team.

Hayes went on to complete two loan spells in the lower regions of the Football League before joining Inverness C.T and then Aberdeen at the end of his contract.

The 29-year-old is under contract with Aberdeen until the summer of 2018 and he is valued at Pitodrie, he’s made 22 appearances so far this season, scoring six times.

Hayes’ estimated market value is around £640,000 but it’s thought Cardiff would have to make advances on that figure to secure his signature.

Aberdeen have knocked back claims they've rejected a Cardiff City bid for Jonny Hayes as the Bluebirds continue to chase the winger.

Still, it is known that Warnock is keen on Hayes.

By Chris Wathan

Wednesday 11th Jan 2017

Reports in Scotland claimed the Dons knocked back a £500,000 offer from Neil Warnock for the Irish flier.

But a spokesman for the SPL club told local paper, the Evening Express, that there had been no formal approach for the 29-year-old.
as he looks to give his side a January boost having already brought in defender Greg Halford from Rotherham last week, as well as handing a contract to rookie non-league striker Ibrahim Meite.

Cardiff face competition from Championship rivals for Republic of Ireland international Hayes, who has 18 months remaining on his Pittodrie contract.

Aberdeen have flown to Dubai ahead of their return to domestic action with Hayes' future still unclear, Dons boss Derek McInnes said to be ready to speak on the subject later on Wednesday.

Warnock has said he hoped to target three or four signings, and has made room in his squad by moving on Lex Immers, releasing Marouane Chamakh and Kieran Richardson while also extending Tom Adeyemi's stay at Rotherham as part of the Halford deal.
