Neil Warnock's Cardiff City side go in search of a vital three points against Ipswich Town today that would see them climb out of the Championship's bottom three.

The Bluebirds play three times in the space of a week having won only once in their last five league games.

They are currently five points behind 16th placed Ipswich ahead of today's meeting and are set to be boosted by the return of Lee Pelter who is available again after missing the 0-0 draw with Brighton through suspension - but doubts remain over the fitness of Rickie Lambert who did not play last time out.

Cardiff have won only twice in their last 20 trips to Portman Road but collected four points in the two fixtures against Mick McCarthy's side last season.

So can they pick up a vital three points and climb out of the relegation zone?

Stay with us for all the latest team news, updates and reaction.

Ipswich Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (capt), Webster, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Ward, Lawrence, McGoldrick, Varney.

Subs: Gerken, Emmanuel, Bishop, Bru, Wililams, Sears, Pitman.

Cardiff City: Amos, Peltier, Bennett, Bamba, Morrison, Connolly, Whittingham, Gunarsson, Hoilett, Harris, Lambert.

Subs: Wilson, Manga, Richardson, Ralls, Noone, Pilkington, Zohore.

Great to see Hoilett and Harris still in the same team, but where exactly they’ll line up remains to be seen. Interesting stuff.

I think we are going to win today. Ipswich fans are not exactly brimming with confidence with Mick at the moment. 2-1 City.

Very bright start from the Bluebirds at Portman Road. Ipswich then have a corner cleared. Lively start to this one.

So close for the visitors early on but Gunnarsson’s effort hits the post. What a strike that was.

It’s 4-4-2 for the Bluebirds. Cardiff enjoy a decent spell of possession early on.

Late call there as Lambert is flagged offside from a Whittingham pass.

CardiffCity man Tom Lawrence sees his effort deflected wide. (0-0)

Let off

Huge let off as Ben Amos drops the ball, but he did well to recover. The conditions certainly didn’t help him there.

Good work from @JoeBennett27 to stop Chambers sneaking in at the back post, heading the ball wide under pressure. (0-0)

CHANCE! Superb running to the back-post from Chambers and he is picked out by Lawrence but the skipper's header is deflected wide

Ipswich getting on top

Ipswich are right on top here, getting a lot of balls into the box. Tom Lawrence is having a very good game so far, driving at the Cardiff defence and looking a threat.

Delivery

Good delivery from Peltier from a free kick but Ipswich keeper Bialkowski comes well off his line to deal with it.

Lawrence

Ipswich doing well when they go wide. Wales man Tom Lawrence impressing so far for the hosts.

Throw

A succession of long throws from Gunnarsson into the box but Ipswich clear their lines on both occasions.

4-4-2 even though we have 5 defenders on the pitch? Which defender's playing in midfield then?

Scrap

Midway through the first half and it’s been scrappy in the last five minutes or so. Gunnarsson’s early effort still the closest we’ve come to a goal.

Another fine strike from Gunnarsson - this time Bialkowski produces a strong save. (0-0)

Excellent running again from Lawrence down the left, he twists and turns past two defenders at pace before his cross for Ward is cut out

At the other end, a Berra tackle lands at the feet of Gunnarsson who blasts over the top (0-0)

Over

Gunnarsson shoots over the bar. He’s determined to bag himself a goal today! Still 0-0 as we approach the half hour mark.
