Rickie Lambert set to keep his first Cardiff City goals with dubious goals committee unlikely to be called.

There has been some suggestions Sean Morrison might have scored the first goal while the second took a major deflection

Rickie Lambert looks almost certain to keep hold of his first Cardiff City goals.

Lambert opened his Bluebirds account with a slightly fortuitous but much needed brace against Rotherham. There had been some suspicion that one if not both of the goals might end up being awarded elsewhere.

His headed equaliser looked like it may have involved captain Sean Morrison, while his left-footed winner took a wicked deflection in order to wrong foot Millers' keeper Lee Camp.

Lambert was quick to lay claim to both strikes after the game, saying "I don't know what he is saying or seeing there, but it definitely did not touch him. And I'm claiming the second as well. It would have gone in the top corner if it hadn't got a deflection!"

It is understood he is likely to get his wish with the mysterious dubious goals committee unlikely to be called.

Committees are called on an ad-hoc basis when the match referee and the club disagree on a goalscorer. A panel is then made up of representatives from across the EFL, who are kept anonymous to avoid any claims of undue influence.

As of yet, no issues from the weekend's Football League games have been raised and so Lambert is likely to keep his place as Cardiff's second top scorer so far this season.

Lambert has spoken of the importance of getting off the mark in a Bluebirds shirt, saying "The quicker you can get that first goal it makes all the difference. Throughout my career I have normally scored in my first game. It's taken me four games but I am off the mark now and I am looking forward to Tuesday now."

The dubious goals committee was last called into action to award Russell Martin's goal against Cardiff at Carrow Road to midfielder Jonny Howson.
