" A WELSH LEGEND RIP "


One of Wales is greatest players has passed away today Mel Charles RIP.


Tributes have been paid to Ex-Swansea and Wales footballer Mel Charles who has died, aged 81.

The younger brother of John Charles, Mel played 31 times for Wales and was in the team that reached the quarter final of the World Cup in 1958.

He also played for Arsenal, Cardiff City and Port Vale during his career.

As well as playing for Swansea where Mel Charles made his name,he joined Arsenal then Cardiff City where he scored 25 goals from 79 games. He was a member of the 1958 World cup Welsh Team.

I was lucky enough to see him play for City alongside his brother John and Ivor Allchurch
Didn't realise at the time how privelidged we were
