Derby

Derby County Football Club is an English football club based in Derby. Home games are played at Pride Park Stadium, where the club moved in 1997.

Notable for being one of the 12 founder members of the Football League in 1888, it is one of only ten clubs to have competed in every season of the English football league system and, in 2009, was ranked 137th in the top 200 European football teams of the 20th century by International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

Derby County F.C. was founded in 1884, by William Morley, as an offshoot of Derbyshire County Cricket Club; it has spent all but four seasons in the top two divisions of English football. The club's competitive peak came in the 1970s when they were twice English League Champions and competed in major European competitions on four separate occasions, reaching the European Cup semi-finals, as well as winning several minor trophies. Additionally, the club was a strong force in the interwar years and won the 1945–46 FA Cup.

The club adopted its now traditional black and white club colours in the 1890s and appropriated its club nickname The Rams, a tribute to its links with the First Regiment of Derby Militia, which took a ram as its mascot and the song "The Derby Ram" as its regimental song, at the same time.

We are the famous Cardiff City , that end teams bad runs.
Leeds not won all season , played us , won every game since.
Can only see us losing and Derby go on an unbeaten run .

So City 0 Derby 2

But I hope I'm so wrong .

If this was played on paper they'd win 2 nil.

But it isnt, so adding up our confidence boosting win on Saturday; their home shocker to Blackburn; Pearson slating his team; Lambert finding the net = 2-0 Bluebirds and Pearson gets the sack immediately after the game and implodes in the post match presser ranting how shit Derby's fans are and that Leicester's Prem win was all him :ayatollah:

If Harris starts 3-0 City

Cardiff City Vs Derby County: Match Preview

By Jamie Kemble

26/09/16

Date and Time: Tuesday 27th September (19.45)

Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Referee: Geoff Eltringham

Cardiff face strugglers Derby County at home on Tuesday evening as they look to continue their improvement after winning their second of the season on the weekend.

The Bluebirds host Nigel Pearson’s Derby County as they go in search of their third win of the season on Tuesday evening. Trollope’s men took three points last time out with their first away win of the season by coming from behind to beat Rotherham United.

The weekend’s win saw Cardiff leap-frog Rotherham and Tuesday evening’s opponents Derby who slipped into the relegation zone.

Derby are enduring a torrid reign of form with no league win in six and four defeats in five league games. Pearson’s men were one of the league favourites before the season but they find themselves in the relegation zone with nine games played and just six points to their name.

Last time out, Derby were undone at home by Owen Coyle’s Blackburn, a team who have struggled enormously so far this season. Two Blackburn goals in three minutes helped pile the pressure on Pearson who is reportedly fighting to save his job.

Derby have enjoyed the better of the results between the two sides in the last five meetings with two wins to Cardiff’s one, although they have lost seven of their last thirteen against The Bluebirds.

Last season, Cardiff lost 2-0 away to the Rams in one of their worst away performances but served up one of their best home performances with a 2-1 win over Derby in the return fixture.

' SPENT WELL OVER £30 MILLION '

Cardiff City's opponents tomorrow night Derby County have spent well over £30 million in the last two seasons, failed to win promotion last season and this season they have scored only three goals, making them the worst scorers in the Championship and one of the worst in all the Leagues. They are currently in the bottom three of the Championship, after failing to win a match in their last six outings and with only won win this season.
Last Saturday Derby County even lost at home to one of the worst clubs Blackburn Rovers.

So tomorrow night many of us Cardiff City fans will be upset if we don't beat Derby County at home as they are currently shocking and yet we've spent peanuts.

Funny many on here believe if a club spends big money they are guaranteed promotion/success or shall we say if a manager gets given plenty of money, well I've always maintained yes a manager needs some money and it helps big time but only if its the right manager.

Thats why I backed Malky Mackay so much, as yes he was given money, but he delivered with it big time, not just promotion did Malky achieve,we were runaway leaders and Malky went on to the Championship.

Just look at Aston Villa v Newcastle United yesterday, they have squads in the Championship with a combined cost of a staggering £161.5million and would you guarantee both clubs will go up this season??

QPR spent far more than most clubs outside the Premier League and half the time they are struggling, like I say yes,you need some money, but you need the right manager to buy the players and then manage them.

Cardiff v Derby Sky preview

26/09/16

Anthony Pilkington could be back from a thigh injury

Cardiff hope to welcome back top scorer Anthony Pilkington at home to Derby.

Pilkington missed the Bluebirds' first win in six matches - the 2-1 victory at Rotherham on Saturday - with a thigh injury suffered against Leeds a week earlier.

Aron Gunnarsson (calf) also missed out at Rotherham, but Stuart O'Keefe is expected to retain his place in midfield after impressing on his return following six weeks out with a broken arm.

Cardiff City took a step in the right direction after climbing off the foot of the table and out of the relegation places with a 2-1 victory away at Rotherham United at the weekend.

Two goals from Rickie Lambert spared the Welsh side’s blushes after going 1-0 down through Isaiah Brown’s effort on the hour mark.

The victory at the weekend has really relieved the pressure of manager Paul Trollope, whom if he had lost the Rotherham clash would have been questioning if he still had a job at the Welsh capital.

They face a Derby County side that are in similar form to the Bluebirds, and haven’t won a league game since beating Preston North End last month.

The Rams confidence is at rock bottom after losing 5 out of their last six games in all competitions and this could be the perfect time to play Nigel Pearson’s side

The Last time Derby County went near the bottom, they went on to win promotion.

Derby County could drop to the bottom of the Championship tonight if results go against them

They sit 22nd on six points ahead of their game away to Cardiff City.

Bottom club Wigan Athletic face a home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight while Rotherham United, who are 23rd after their home defeat by Cardiff on Saturday , are away at Huddersfield Town.

You have to go back 10 years for the last time Derby found themselves in a lower position in the second tier of English football than they currently occupy.

Back in September 2006, Billy Davies' team lost 2-1 at home to Roy Keane's Sunderland to slip to 23rd but they recovered to win promotion.

They reached the play offs where they saw off Southampton before they beat West Bromwich Albion in the final.

Derby County have confirmed that Nigel Pearson will not take charge of their team at Cardiff City tonight, at the request of the club.

BBC

Derby County manager Nigel Pearson has been suspended by the club and will not be in charge of the team for Tuesday's Championship match at Cardiff City.

Assistant boss Chris Powell will take control of the side.

The Rams have not won in six league matches and are third from bottom, having scored just three league goals.

"Nigel Pearson will not be carrying out his duties at Tuesday's game at the request of the club," said a statement on Derby's website.

"The club will make no further comment at this time."

Former Leicester City manager Pearson was only appointed in the summer, but Derby have only won one Championship match from nine so far this season.

Pearson openly criticised the players following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by fellow strugglers Blackburn Rovers, saying his side were "paralysed with fear".

Ian Holloway's Tonights prediction

Here’s what Sky Sports Football League pundit is saying:

There’s something wrong with that squad at Derby. Their defence fell apart against Blackburn after taking the lead at the weekend, and I think they’ll struggle again at Cardiff.

Rickie Lambert finally got a couple of goals as they beat Rotherham and I think he’ll get another here as quality always rises back to the top.
