KANTE IN REAL LINK

Leicester midfielder N'Golo Kante is the latest name to join Real Madrid’s shortlist of possible signings this summer, reports Marca.

The recruitment of the French midfielder, who is currently on international duty at Euro 2016, is one of Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane’s priority requests ahead of next season.

Zidane wants the 25-year-old to provide competition for Casemiro, who is the only recognised defensive midfielder in Real Madrid’s squad at the moment.

The club have received very positive scouting reports on Kante since they started to track him back in December.

Kante’s buyout clause is set at €25m and Madrid consider that to be a reasonable price for the midfielder.

Toby Alderweireld hopes Belgium team-mate Michy Batshuayi will join him at Tottenham next season.

Batshuayi, who scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season, is reportedly a target for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the highly coveted Marseille striker has also been linked with Crystal Palace and West Ham, while Chelsea are also said to have entered the bidding war for the 22-year-old.

"Do I hope Batshuayi comes to Tottenham? Yes of course," said Spurs defender Alderweireld. "He has a lot of qualities.”

Former Inter Milan club president Massimo Moratti has called on the new board to sign West Ham star Dimitri Payet.

Moratti has been owner of Inter since 1995, but has sold his stake to the Chinese Suning Group, who reportedly are willing to spend £200m on players.

"These are just the kind of things you hear every day at the bar, and tomorrow morning my request will be to see Payet," Moratti said. "You can't buy the great champions right now, you need to be lucky to find the right bargain."

'PIVOTAL BUT PRICEY'

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson believes Sadio Mane will be a pivotal signing for the club - but feels they have overspent in securing his services.

The Reds have paid a fee of £36m including add-ons for the Southampton winger, who becomes Jurgen Klopp's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of midfielder Marko Grujic, centre-back Joel Matip and goalkeeper Loris Karius.

"I think we've paid far too much for him," Thommo said.

Belgium have pulled Michy Batshuayi from their press conference ahead of their Euro 2016 quarter-final against Wales, at the request of his club Marseille.

He was due to speak to the media at Belgium’s Euro 2016 headquarters in Bordeaux at 2.30pm.

Chelsea look set to beat Crystal Palace to the signing of striker Batshuayi after tabling a £33.2m bid.
