RITCHIE TO DROP DOWN A LEVEL

Newcastle are set to beat West Ham to the signing of Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie, according to the Daily Mirror.

Ritchie impressed for Bournemouth last season in the Premier League but is understood to be willing to drop down a level with Newcastle, who have reportedly tabled a £12m bid.

Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty expects to leave Norwich City

29/06/16

Kyle Lafferty expects to leave Norwich this summer

Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty is preparing for pastures new this summer having accepted his time at Norwich is seemingly over.

The 28-year-old started twice for his country at Euro 2016 this month despite not starting for his parent club since January 2015.

He has since been loaned out to Turkish club Rizespor and Birmingham and though the Canaries find themselves back in the English second tier next term, Lafferty does not expect to be part of their campaign in the final year of his deal.

The forward, who scored seven times in the qualification process for Euro 2016, recently got married and when he returns from his honeymoon he anticipates seeking a new employer.

"When I come back I will probably be looking for a new club," Lafferty said.

"I haven't really had any contact with Norwich over the summer but the fans have been absolutely brilliant with me.

"They know I wanted to play for the club and I always gave 100% but it wasn't to be."

Lafferty and the rest of his Northern Ireland colleagues were back in Belfast on Monday having been knocked out of the Euros following a defeat to Wales two days earlier.

Although their run ended at the last-16 stage, 10,000 fans turned up in the Northern Irish capital to congratulate Michael O'Neill's squad on their achievements in their first major tournament finals for 30 years.

"I didn't think I'd ever see scenes like that," Lafferty admitted.

"Since I came into the squad we have been up and down and we finally got to the levels we knew we could get to.

"This has topped anything we've done in the past as a squad and the whole country has been together. When that happens it shows what we can all do.

"With what we achieved in qualifying and again at the tournament, I think we proved a lot of people wrong.

"There were people who thought they knew it all about what we were going to do - or not do - but we proved they haven't a clue.

"We went beyond anyone's expectations. But as good as it was to be standing in front of the fans in Belfast, we know we should probably still be in France preparing for the quarter-finals, but that's football for you.

"To see the fans give us a heroes' welcome after that is exceptional."

Liverpool lose key staff member to Championship outfit Cardiff City

by Dan Price

Liverpool lose key staff member to Championship outfit Cardiff City

Our former head of fitness and conditioning, Ryland Morgans, is going to Championship side Cardiff City.

Morgans was brought in by our ex-boss Brendan Rodgers back in the summer of 2012, but left the club earlier this year.

He is currently with Wales in France as part of their EURO 2016 contingent. He is their head of performance.

However, once he returns from France, it has now been revealed by the Echo that he’ll join Welsh side Card

Apparently, Lennie Lawrence is also moving to Wales. He will be the assistant manager to new boss Paul Trollope.

“We are delighted to bring people with the experience Dr Ryland and Lennie have to the club and hope that they can play an important role in helping us achieve our ambition of promotion back to the Premier League,” said Cardiff’s chief executive, Ken Choo.

“We have put together a strong backroom coaching team this summer which we believe will help maximise the potential within our playing staff.”

CHELSEA SCHOLAR GETS DEAL

Malakai Hinckson-Mars has signed a two-year professional contract at Chelsea.

Signed from Barnet at the start of his Under-16 season, he is a quick, attacking player who likes to operate through the middle but is equally capable out wide.

We can expect Everton to be quite active in the summer transfer window. The billionaire owner Farhad Moshiri is eager to put an end to the disappointment of the Everton fans and is prepared to break the bank. The club made a big statement by parting ways with Roberto Martinez at the end of the last season and appointing an experienced manager like Ronald Koeman to lead the Toffees in a new direction.

When a manager moves to one club from another, he tends to bring some of his favourite players from the former club. Every manager has a comfort zone and it is same for the players too. Everyone wants some known faces in his new quests and football is no exception. A position that is craving for reinforcements at Everton is the goalkeeper and The Mirror reports that Koeman is keen to reunite with his compatriot Maarten Stekelenburg at the Goodison Park.
