Manchester United and Wales star set to sit on ITV pundit's sofa for the closing stages of Euro 2016

TUESDAY 28TH JUN 2016

BY ANTHONY WOOLFORD

Ryan Giggs' career at Old Trafford seems to be drawing to a close after the departure of Louis van Gaal and arrival of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to the Premier League club.

Ryan Giggs is joining ITV as a pundit for the remainder of Euro 2016

Wales and Manchester United superstar Ryan Giggs will swap the Old Trafford dugout for the Euro 2016 pundit's sofa with ITV as the tournament reaches the quarter-final stages.

Giggs will take up a role as a pundit in ITV’s Paris studio alongside presenter Mark Pougatch, Lee Dixon, Ian Wright and others to lend his wealth of expertise and insight to the channel’s coverage of the remaining stages of the tournament.

Giggs' career at Old Trafford seems to be drawing to a close after the departure of Louis van Gaal and arrival of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to the Premier League giants.

With his own extremely limited contribution to the national team I'm not sure why anyone thinks that what he has to say has any relevance whatsoever.

I agree with both of you, He should not be appearing.

Good thinking by ITV! On the day they are criticising the England team for lack of passion, loyalty and desire to play for their country, they appoint the person who probably defines all those the best

Won 64caps for Wales and Britain,s most decorated player, born in Cardiff as we're his parents and grandparents yet many people on here still don't support him?

Out of 64 caps only played in 1 non-competitive match. :o

Made it clear by his actions that Manchester United always came before Wales as far as he was concerned.

May have been born in Cardiff but never had anything to do with the city having moved away when he was young and that's fair enough but hardly makes him a great Welshman.

Chris Gunter has 70 odd caps - much more dedicated to his country than Ryan Giggs ever was.

Now that Bale and Ramsey like Giggs are top players in Champions League clubs they will also play few friendlies, they were both missing before Euros. It's pointless playing automatic choices in friendlies anyway, give others a chance.Gunter is a top Championship player who rarely gets injured and would be a great signing for us but many on here don't like him either?

Surely not commentating as an 'expert' on Wales???? :o

The guy let Wales down so many times it beggars belief and (to the best of my knowledge) Salford are not in the Euro 16 competition! :laughing6:

All the players in this current Welsh squad (even Swansea's Ashley Williams) could teach him a thing or two about 'total commitment' to the country of your birth/choice! :ayatollah:

64 caps is so many for someone who had a 14 year career for United.

have you once thought that it wasn't his decision not to play friendlies for Wales? Man Utd and Ferguson called this not Giggs - they paid him week in, week out and he managed to extend his playing career due to it

Don't even get me started on Giggs (lack of) commitment to Wales. I watched his debut for Wales when he was 17 in Nurumberg and he finished playing at 39? he should have had close to 200 caps not 64 caps the guy is a total joke to Wales and our Country and I hope he never ever comes close to joining the Welsh set up EVER!!!

Bollocks.

How many times did Ferguson stop Rooney playing for England even in friendlies? Compare how many caps Rooney and Giggs have.

Giggs either did not have the balls to tell Ferguson to get stuffed or he was quite happy to be told not to bother turning up for Wales.

As City fans chanted at him when he played for United at CCS in the Premier League, he was only Welsh when he wanted to be.

The difference between Giggs and Bale is night and day. Giggs no commitment & no passion.

Bale turns up from friendlies even when he's injured just to be part of the squad! Bale driving Wales forward with his play and passion where Giggs had none of that. Bale is the example of what Giggs should have been.

What's Bale on? 50 caps already maybe more? He's only 26!
