ITS TUESDAY 28TH JUNE 2016

ROY HODGSON WAS THE HIGHEST PAID MANAGER AT THIS YEARS EUROS

We start today after one of the Biggest Shocks in International Football, Iceland with a poppulation of just 300,000 beat England 2-1 in the Euros and sent them packing, followed by the Resignation of England's manager Roy Hodgson.

ICELAND HAVE NO PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CLUBS :o

Roy Hodgson stepped down as England manager immediately after their shock defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016 on Monday night.

England were embarrassingly knocked out of the tournament after losing 2-1 to Iceland at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.

Hodgson elected to start under-fire winger Raheem Sterling as part of an attacking line-up and was rewarded when captain Wayne Rooney scored from the penalty spot after just three minutes.

England out of Euro 2016:

However, Iceland hit back immediately through Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kolbein Sigthorsson to record the greatest result in their country's history.

The defeat caps a miserable tournament for England, who were held to draws by Russia and Slovakia during the group stage.

Hodgson, appointed as England manager prior to Euro 2012, announced his decision to step down from his role immediately after the defeat, as well as confirming assistant managers Ray Lewington and Gary Neville would also leave.

"I'm extremely disappointed, of course, about tonight's result and ultimately our exit from the competition," Hodgson said.

MULGREW FUTURE UNKNOWN

Celtic have flown to Slovenia on their pre-season tour with the future of Charlie Mulgrew still up in the air.

When asked about Mulgrew, assistant manager Chris Davies told STV: "There's no update on that. That one is ongoing. We are happy with the players we have got in here and we are working towards the future."

NEYMAR REJECTS PSG

Neymar has rejected an offer from PSG and is set to sign a new contract at Barcelona, reports Sport.

The Brazilian forward’s future has been subject to heavy speculation in recent months, with reported interest in him from clubs such as PSG, Man Utd and Real threatening to hinder his protracted contract talks at Barca.

However, the player’s future is on the verge of being clarified and he could seal his contract renewal this week. Neymar is happy at Barcelona and wants to stay at the club, who are set to tie him down until the summer of 2022.

The player’s father, who also acts as his representative, declined a lucrative offer from PSG and told the Ligue 1 champions that his son has no intention of leaving Barca.

PSG were willing to meet Neymar’s €190m buyout clause and wanted to make him the world’s highest-paid player.
