" RUSSELL SLADE WILL KNOW HIS FUTURE WITH IN THE NEXT 48-72 HOURS "
Friday 6th May 2016
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade will discover his fate in the next 48 to 72 hours after confirming crunch talks with Vincent tan are imminent.
The Bluebirds boss insists he is still in the dark over his future as Cardiff prepare for their final match of the season against Birmingham on Saturday.
Tan is believed to still be undecided on what to do with Slade but the manager has been told he will find out if he will remain at the club very soon.
"Everything will be resolved in 48 to 72 hours," Slade said.
Final Cardiff City press conference of the season as Russell Slade faces uncertain future
"I spoke to the chairman on the new contract. We will have to wait and see. I've not spoken to Vincent.
"The chairman was good, very good - open and honest as normal.
"I don’t know about a new contract, I will know in next 48 hours. They will be private matters. I sit here and honestly there has been no conclusion reached yet.
Ken Choo, Vincent Tan and Mehmet Dalman...the Cardiff hierarchy are discussing Slade's future
"I will be speaking to Vincent as well. Of course I want to say. He’s (Tan) been very busy. I 100 percent don’t know what’s happening. But there’s dialogue and it is coming to a conclusion.
"There are elements that need to be discussed. They are private and need to remain that. The important things is that everyone is on the same page."

Slade was given three games to save his job in January after struggling to win over fans since joining in October 2014.
An upturn in results appeared to have turned the tide as Cardiff pushed for the play-offs but an end-of-season collapse saw them miss out on sixth spot and has once again placed his future in major doubt.
Slade hopes to go out with a bang if it is to be his last match in charge of the team, adding: "We want a positive attitude from players. We want to finish on a high. If not top six, aim for best best and that’s seventh.
"Our form at home has been so strong, we need to show fans a good performance to send the fans home happy."

It's always sad when someone put's everything into the job, but still the public perception is that he is not the right man long term. However, I paid extortionate Championship entrance fees on some absolute garbage games under Slade and if truth be told, it never got much better as time went on
Bye Slade

I believe the decision has already been taken and we will be saying goodbye to RS sometime over the weekend. In fairness to him he has done a decent job against a very difficult background and even if we lose tomorrow his CV will show the highest League finish throughout his entire career. Whatever happens this can never be taken away from him.
I just have a feeling that the club already has his replacement lined up and I hope it's Neil Warnock who has just shown he is still the very best around at this level with his short stint at Rotherham.

I'm greatful for the job he's done he's steadied the ship but I honestly believe that he's not tactically good enough to take us forward, I wanted him to prove me wrong but I've seen nothing to suggest otherwise, hopefully they will announce that he's not getting a new contract so we can give him a good send off tomorrow

This all ties in with our discussion the other day, Annis
I still think it is likely Slade will stay another season and whilst that might not be the end of the world, I think that the team's end of season form speaks volumes about his ability to take us any further
As I stated elsewhere, I think what happens managerially this summer will speak volumes about where we truly want to be as a club
What may be more important though, is that the whole thing is sorted quickly and everyone (fans included) know where they stand

Got a feeling he will stay on for dugdet reasons but may find him with a few quid to spend

I cannot see what all the debate and speculation is about, only a hand full of months ago did Tan say how much he rated Slade and quote,
Russell Slade job does not depend on if we finish top six. Unless anything has drastically changed (I don't think it has) then Slade with be managing Cardiff next season.
Simples!

If we win on Saturday that will only help Slade's case to stay, sad to say.

Don't understand why he just doesn't walk away...he will get himself another job in the lower division without much trouble.
He is never going to be accepted at Cardiff, the fans just don't think he is good enough
If he does get a new contract he will get nothing but abuse

The right decision is to thank him for his hard work and efforts and best wishes for the future. Orient again maybe

Thanks Russ and good luck in the future. top bloke that tried his best. right time to move on

Heard today that he was gone after the Bolton game
Didn't matter after that game where we finished
Tan was not going to re new his contract
And Bellamy will be our new manager/coach for next season

If thats the case why not say after wed game he's staying? Fact is choo & dalman don't want him so my guess is he's going

I think he deserves to try and continue his good work into next season. The players obviously have a great deal of respect for him, which is far more important than the opinions of stupid people on this board. However, if we are to change manager then immediately after the end of the season is the best time to do it. Whatever happens, once the decision is made, we must get behind the manager whoever he is, even Russell Slade.

That should not make any difference whatsoever.
If we won 6-0 he still should go.
I still cannot get over the Bristol City, MK Dons & Rotherham home games, and what he made us sit through.
There are plenty of League 1 and 2 clubs + the Conference which would suit him,

It wasn't that long ago everyone was crying out for Scott Young as someone with a Bluebird heart who would put passion into the team.
He's now toxic.

I don't think Slade has done too bad a job considering the what he has had to deal with, but as his contract is coming to an end and as long as we can get someone appropriate now is the time.
Thank You Russell
Fri May 06, 2016 2:36 pm
He has improved as time as gone on and he had to cut the squad to begin with but I think it's time to cut the strings he has no plan b when things ain't going our way and if we get money he ain't the most appealing manager to want to play for.But who will replace him I personally think that depends on what stories are true concerning the input the manager has and what tan has in regards to buying selling and picking the team,if left alone Warwick would come even though I hate the man but Ian Holloway covered a few of our matches on sky this year and seemed to have a soft spot for us and certinatly knew what we needed he's done it on a shoestring with Blackpool at out expense

but I think he would be a decent choice Bellamy would give it 100% but I'm not sure he has enough experience yet saying that Gary speed didn't have a great deal before turning Wales around its going to be interesting no doubt but Russ ain't the man for us

Allan, my feeling is that he will stay for a number of reasons mainly pertaining to Tan's previous comments
BUT the question in my mind is if that is the case, why hasn't anything been announced already?
It is pretty common knowledge that in the darker days of this campaign, Slade's only ally was the most important one, i.e. Tan Sri Vincent Tan
I was also told within the last two weeks (strange how things come about sometimes) that no decision has been made on the future of Russell Slade and that it is also accepted that the club need to do something to bring the missing fans back into the fold, so that beggars the question of is Tan genuinely considering replacing him?
An interesting few days (maybe weeks) ahead and as I stated previously we will all have a better idea of our real ambitions for next season when we know if we have Slade's steady hand or a deliverer in charge

Sven if as reported before tan looks at social media (this board) ect he will know only way forward is to replace slade , I don't think it's as expensive as being made out for new manager ! as I said dalman/ choo have big say and seeing as slade is not their favourite can only see slade going

Seems like they have gone for a happy medium, Allan
I'm not disappointed with this afternoon's announcement and it will be intriguing to see who wins the race to be 'Head Coach' at the CCS

Well if radio Wales to be believed it's a young upcoming manager and that's just what we need! As for decision it's a compromise with tan by looks of things time will tell if right way to go about things
