' Cardiff City's Two Biggest Earners To leave? '

I was told today that not only does Vincent Tan want Russell Slade to stay on another season, but that Slade has been told to get rid of more of the biggest earners.

Ive also been told that its not all guaranteed that Slade will stay if another club came in for Slade and gave him a budget to spend on new players where as at Cardiff, Slade will have a budget, but a very very tight one.

The main players Slade will be told to try and move on because of their contracts being worth over £50,000 a week between them are Fabio Da Silva and Bruno Manga.

Fabio has been in and out of Russell Slades team this season and is not Slades first choice anyway, even though Fabio is a fans favourite.

On the other hand Bruno Mange leaving would be a big blow to Russell Slade as he sees Manga as one of his main players, but if by any chance City are promoted to the Premier League, Manga will be kept on.

Cardiff City also currently have 12 players out on loan and a few of them are expected to leave as well.

I'd be sorry to see them both go but if that is the case I would definitely offer Ben a new contract. Maybe 12 months.

that wouldnt be a disaster, at least fabio wouldnt.

losing manga would be tough but we would get some money for him

I would give Ben Turner a new contract as well :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I would also be gutted if Fabio left

oh yes sorry, we should get something for Fabio for sure. But to me Manga is the "big money" even if we dont get what we paid on him.

Also the money we would be saving in wages would be massive.

Re: ' Cardiff City's Two Biggest Earners To leave? '

Thu Apr 21, 2016 9:58 am

I'd be a bit sad but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I love Fabio but he's wasted under Slade and deserves a manager who can trust him to do his job.

Manga would be a loss but Morrison and Connolly are able deputies and if we can ger Turner fit we'll have 3 good championship centre halves anyway.

If we can reinvest the money on Immers, a decent striker and a decent winger I'd say it was good business tbh.

Not surprised at the very least by all of this. I said in a previous post that there was still a massive job to do at City, & its more than obvious that VT trusts RS, & wants him to continue with the "good work". The two players mentioned are just the minimum that I can personally see leaving,,,but whats VT's intentions for next season???

Surely it has to be a serious push for at least a top six place,,,as a minimum??? Quite clearly, & in order to achieve this, we have to strengthen the squad from top to bottom?

We have all to often seen how things can quickly change in football, & in RS's case, what was a positive & warming attitude towards him only a couple of weeks ago, has very rapidly become one of negative apathy, which arguably, he has largely brought upon himself. This type of negativity will take an even longer time to heal, if indeed it ever does!

Suggestive , if correct , that Cardiff City continues to go nowhere fast under the Despot's boot !

Re: ' Cardiff City's Two Biggest Earners To leave? '

It was obvious that the wage bill would need to be cut again next year...our parachute payments drop by another £6 million next season.

Manga would be a huge loss...Fabio seems a genuinely nice guy but as a defender he is a liability!!!!

Another year of average football with a below average manager beckons.

Re: ' Cardiff City's Two Biggest Earners To leave? '

If it is correct that Slade may leave if another club with a budget for new players approaches him, this suggests that we will not be re-investing much of any of the proceeds we get from the sale of our bigger earners. Obviously our parachute payment reduces and we have to work with the money available. I think it will be another season of ensuring Championship football is maintained at the CCS while having very little money to play with, and Slade has proved that he is capable of this and will probably be here for a while yet. I feel that this season was a good opportunity to get out of this league, and I think we will find things a little more difficult next season. I am sure that nothing will change on this forum during the Summer months, and every single player who is available on the transfer market will be on his way here, even though we have no money. All good fun.

I'm not sure we'd get much for Fabio because he's not a first team regular.

Manga would be a massive loss but he wants to play at a higher level anyway and that's understandable.

The most depressing thing about that post is that Tan wants Slade to stay.

Obvious that Tan believes that promotion can be obtained by keeping his fingers crossed, just like this season, and praying for a miracle.

Can't see many clubs with money to spend rushing to appoint Slade to spend it for them.

Unfortunately it looks like we're stuck with him again next season.

Need more than a miracle! Tan surely can't believe we will get promotion with reduced talent or slade as manager? :old:

I don't think Tan does believe Slade will get us promoted, and that is why he will be staying. Just my opinion.

two of my fav players but makes sense to get rid of the higher earners, should we be paying them 25k a week probably not.

Makes sense and while I think Tan is mad to keep Slade I do think he is right limiting his budget.

If he's looking to get rid of the highest earners than I would think that would also include Marshall and Whittingham?

There won't be just Fabio and Manga leaving, there are alot of players coming back from loan that Slade just doesn't rate / know what to do with because of his style of football. Hopefully we can pick up fees for Doyle, Macheda, Adeyemi and maybe even Le Fondre because they won't get a sniff if they come back. My only worry this summer is losing Immers to another team. he'll be a great piece of business on a free if Cardiff can snap him up.

So that cost cutting can keep happening with the knowledge that slade is good enough to keep us in championship ? A gamble no doubt.

Yeah move them on as well, especially if we can get around 4m for Marshall, reinvest half for a striker maybe

I hope Slade is not with us next season, but if he is then Fabio & Declan John will go. He doesn't want modern wingbacks but old fashioned full backs.....Can he get Stuart Pearce out of retirement ?

I doubt if Manga came here for three seasons in the championship, not sure where he would end up in the premier league, but i doubt it would be any higher than the promoted clubs, we'll get our money back though.

Marshall, again where is he going to go ? The worst keeper in the premier was at Villa. If Everton are splahing cash this year maybe them, but I can't see where he goes as a starter.

Whitts....No one is going to touch Whitts. We have flogged him to death over the last 7 years and there isn't much in the tank left. I like classy players, so he has been my favourite over the CCS years, but as the game is based more on athletitism than when he started he doesn't offer much for another team. last year of his contact, 32 in Sept, he won't be going anywhere.

Not sure how we get rid of Alf oe Ademyemi either, Signed during the madness of Ole both will be on a whack and their agents will won't a fair chunk to leave.

Nooney will be gone as well (IMO) but he will be easier to shift.

i love how you say that there are players out on loan that slade "doesnt know what to do with" somehow making it sound that they might well be better than what weve got here already if only a decent manager was here instead.

Just ssaying that if Slade doesn't want them just get rid for a fee instead of loaning them out, all 4 players are no better than what we have already.

but its not that simple is it

Re: ' Cardiff City's Two Biggest Earners To leave? '

it's all a question of freeing up wages rather than getting a transfer fee. The players currently out on loan may attract a small fee but if you add their wages up we could be talking close to £100k a week (between all of them!) that with a bit of thought can be used to finance the wages of 3 or 4 players that do fit into Slade's plans. The problem is can he attract the better players available ahead of the Leeds Wolves QPR's etc that will all be looking for a bargain. This to me is the main problem keeping Slade in that is record in the transfer market so far has been weak at best. Must keep Immers though if at all possible.

The most distressing part of that article is that tan wants Slade to stay on -.

This is dreadful news.

Surely Tan can see hat Slade is hopeless and has not taken the great opportunity given to him to get into the top 6.

I refer to 3 consecutive games against London clubs all in the lower reaches all of whom should have been despatched comfortably. Instead 1 solitary point with 2 goals scored.

How does tan seriously think that Slade can improve on this next season?

He refuses to play a striker. He continue to experiment with a wide midfielder up front. He refuses to play Healey, John & Kennedy.

:sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout: :sladeout:

City desperately need a new manager, and a raft of new players. Now is the time to start looking.

ps. I have no problems with both Fabio and Manga going.
