A forum for all things Cardiff City

I can't think of today's result as anything other than a missed opportunity.
With Sheffield Wednesday dropping points at home, it would have helped City's play off cause hugely had we won at home to a QPR side with very little to play for.
That first half performance was as poor as I have seen from a City side at home for some time, QPR didn't look to offer any threat at all but sad to say neither did City.
With us not losing ground on Sheffield Wednesday in terms of points it could be argued that it is still on for City but it is another game less that we have to take advantage.
Four games to go and five points behind, City need to at least match Sheffield Wednesday's result on Tuesday before we entertain already relegated Bolton next Saturday and the Owls take on Derby.
We cannot lose any ground between now and our game against Wednesday on April 30th, otherwise I think it will be a bridge too far.
It is still on but just about.

Our problem is we lack a mobile fit hungry proven goal scorer. The rest of the team is good and fit for purpose, unfortunately we don't have the quality upfront. K Jones had the quality but lacked the hunger and failed to produce the goods regular enough. Pilkington is a willing work horse but he looks what he is a winger playing out of position.
We finish 7th I'm disappointed but accept progression has been made. Slade has a huge summer ahead and will have no excuses next season.

I have no problem thus season with pilks starting up front, but if we are struggling give the back up strikers at least 30 mins

So many opportunities lately to push into the play offs. Still possible with the fixtures as they are but I don't think we are good enough

Would need to probably win all 4 now, obviously nothing but a victory at Wed is required. Then rely on them either drawing 2 more or losing 1.
Stranger things have happened in football.

Frazier Campbell is exactly what we lacked today. Shame as don't think he is getting time at palace.

I'd take FC back in a shot if he was offered.

I've never been a Slade fan but to give him credit, he got the club this far. Sad to agree that promotion is an outside chance this season but if Championship football happens again, Slade is getting the hang of it. If promotion beckons next season, I personally think an new manager will be needed to ensure survival. Loyalty doesn't come into it I'm afraid. There's too much at stake. Slade is a real gent though. I have no problem with him as a man.

at straws clutching ... rearrange into the correct order.
We've had a good few months which have prolonged another generally disappointing season under Slade. Decent chap and all that and has done pretty much what Tan wanted him to do. But for me doesn't quite cut the mustard at top Championship level. Substitutions and tactics a bit perplexing at times and frustrating to watch. The lack of a top striker has been done to death on here but it's true.
Hopefully we can keep the best of our bunch and ship out the under-performers, whilst adding some pace/quality out wide and the proverbial top striker.
If Carlsberg did the last four games for Cardiff City we'd make the playoffs. Unfortunately they don't and we can only keep supporting and hope for the best.
