" Zahore and Saadi "

Sun Apr 10, 2016 6:11 am

Another little glimpse yesterday.

Zahore looks strong and mobile, but his touch, composure, finishing and awareness are awful.

There's some potential there, but he reminds me a little of Gestede. It's going to take a while before he's good enough to impact in the Champ.

Saw less of Saadi, he looked a bit more like he knew what he was doing, but again snatched at his chance.
Don't think he's the answer short term either.

Our only real hope is that Pilkington is back for Sat and stays fit.

We need to invest carefully in at least 1, maybe 2 new strikers in the summer.

I actually would have thought sticking Ameobi up front for the last 10-20 mins was a better shout than the 2 new lads.

I also would have pulled Noone rather than Gunnar.

ameobi wasnt on the bench
noone was poor
but whitts was useless , gutless, and he hid for the second half , his corners and free kicks were not good either , if hes our best crosser of a ball how come he kept giving it to malone to end up trying to cross it
the midfield at burnley were great without whitts , why he was brought back in I have no idea , if we are going to win enough of our last 5 games to give us an outside chance of the play offs , its got to be with out whitts

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I realised Ameobi wasn't on the bench, but he should have been, as he would have given us a different option.

Whitts is a very frustrating player. However, with our striker problems the best chance of scoring is a set piece where his delivery is crucial.

Lets play these two upfront from now on and see how they do if Slade is going to rotate the midfield then he should do it upfront aswell.

the problem now is they both will lack match fitness so both unlikely to be able to last the 90 espeicially Saadi , this is where I think the club need a reserve team and play them in that to get match fitness

They have been with the U21s and they will get more match fitness by playing games simple as.

Immers can play on the wing if it's going to be 442.

Zahore was terrible yesterday. He put himself about but his touch, decision making and passing was awful. He looked like a league two player at best. Saadi didn't get as much time on the pitch but looks a slightly better player.

Including these two, I think we've had 10 strikers at the club since the summer. Doyle, KJ, Le Fondre, Guerra, Maynard, Macheda, Mason and Revell who have all left on loan or permanent for various reasons. But from what I've seen so far, Macheda aside, we're left with the worst two. It says something when the manager would rather play 2 wingers/midfield players up front rather than Zahore and Saadi.

This summer is going to be huge for City. Big decisions to be made with coaching and playing staff. IMO we need a massive clear out in both departments.

I agree with your last comments,,,this Summer is going to be huge, & Big decisions are going to have to be made, if we are to move on wards & upwards as a club.

On the point of the coaching staff, would you keep RS? We know he can "fire" players, but can he "Hire" quality one too???

One the playing staff, then the sooner the likes of Macheda, Le Fondre, Dikgacoi, & Da Silva are off the payroll the better.
The same with Ameobi, who will soon be back to his club. Saadi, or Saddy,,,is just that, SAD.

Hopefully we can get out of our current transfer embargo simply by releasing that lot alone!

We can't really judge them yet. Give them some home games and a bit more understanding with the team and we might see some improvement. It's easy to write them off but they'll be as desperate as were are for them to come good.

I don't think Russell is the one to take us forward on the pitch. He's done a good job steadying the ship, getting rid of high earners etc but he's just been doing what Tan has told him to do. Tan trusts him and after the Malky saga we may find Russell moving upstairs with a young manager coming in.

Players I'd clear out in the summer (including players on loan to us)
Definites: Kiss, Velikonja, Doyle, Macheda, Dikgacoi, Saadi, Harris, Kennedy, Noone, Joe Lewis, Adeyemi, KJ, Le Fondre. Ameobi, Zahore.
Possibles: Turner, Malone, Gunnarsson, Lawrence,
With maybe Marshall and/or Manga being sold that's 20/21 players.

Agree with you completely.

At the moment though more Morecambe and Wise than Chopra and Bothroyd.

He's scored 5/6 goals and put in multiple mom performances in his current role I don't think moving him to the wing would make any sense.

A player with Immers work rate can play anywhere so why not on the wing? you know it makes sense. :laughing6:

Tim,

I said similar comments to you leaving the ground on Saturday.

I feel Zohore is very much like Gestede when he first came to Cardiff as well.

And I felt Ameobi would have been a better use of a substitute, in my opinion he should have been on the bench if he was fit.

To have two defenders and two defensive midfielders seemed like overload to me.
