' Cut-price season tickets plan for Huddersfield '

Should Cardiff City and other Championship clubs follow?
Cardiff City's Capacity 33,500.
Personally I would like it £50 anywhere in the ground for under 16's :ayatollah:
I know City have put a plan together, they are just waiting on Vincent Tans approval.

Bradford City did it this season in the lower divisions and they average 18,000 fans :ayatollah:

Huddersfield are now going to do it in the Championship :ayatollah:

Cut-price season tickets plan for Huddersfield Town means a game will cost you just £7.90

Cut-price season tickets plan for Huddersfield Town means a game will cost you just £7.90
or it means
With £200 tickets you’d basically get about 12-13 games free, so if it is £179 then it’s maybe around 14 free."

Town chairman Dean Hoyle floats idea of £179 ticket

Town fans could be watching their heroes next season for just £7.90 a game.

That’s because the club is considering plans to drastically cut the price of of season cards - perhaps to as low as just £179.

It is believed the prices will be for all stands at the John Smith’s Stadium but may be restricted to the first 10,000 supporters to sign up.

The club currently have just over 9,000 season ticket holders and believe the new deal would attract thousands more.

The idea was mooted by Town chairman Dean Hoyle at a fans’ meeting to gauge the reaction of supporters.

It has been likened to the set-up at Bradford City, where attendances have soared on the back of a cut-price deal.

Town’s average attendances have fallen over the past three seasons from 15,068 in 2012/13 to 13,541 last season.

Current season tickets range in price from £295 to £560

The idea has been welcomed by many Town fans.

Steve King, of the Supporters Association, said: “It would be a great move.

“You would surely expect at least 10,000 to buy tickets at that price and hopefully many more.

“It would make us one of the lowest-priced clusb in the Football League, never mind the Championship”.

On the downatthemac website, many have hailed Mr Hoyle’s initiative.

Peter Jackson Terrier: "£179 ? Wow! That means the club loses approx £250 for each existing and committed SC holder..that’s about £2m. But, if they can get another 2,000 they gain back £0.5m.Dean has broken the mould with these prices, and the fact they are the same in any stand is perfect.

"I hope this makes the national media take notice ..it deserves al the plaudits it can get. I can’t even moan about the loss of our seniors discount at these prices..."

Iwan Roberts Terrier: "Dean has done what all Premier League and Championship clubs should do. The increase in TV money makes it more affordable for clubs to make it cheaper for the fans. This won’t happen with most clubs as they can sell out for every game despite the extortionate prices. The prices that Toiwn are charging are comparable to season ticket prices lower down the pyramid. Bradford Park Avenue charged £180 after early bird prices."

kiaterrier: "Great news. Now reduce pay on the day for adults to £15 to get even more supporters into the ground."

Mick Buxton Terrier: "I seem to remember reading that we get an extra £4m next year, and that is going to be used to off-set the losses on the season cards.

They need to follow it up with a few billboards around town and promos at the university so that everyone around town knows about the offer. stevvy"

Herbert Chapman Terrier: "If true, brilliant. Even if it’s for the first 10k that take up the offer it’s still good if you think about it as youngsters won’t pay that, so by the time we get 10k of the £179 tickets sold it may be 12-13k that we’ve sold in total. I’ll certainly be getting one. With £200 tickets you’d basically get about 12-13 games free, so if it is £179 then it’s maybe around 14 free."

I am happy what I pay but your pricing is bang on, it won't attract everybody back but a lad and dad for 250 would be great

The club should offer a discount for early sign up for season tickets as we have a 33000 capacity and fans know there is no rush to pay the money early.

It's something that always baffles me. If I was the club custodian, I would be saying "I want to fill the empty seats!" and I'd rather see 30,000 people paying £200 for a season ticket than I would 15,000 at £400 :ayatollah:

It would/should create a better atmosphere and hopefully get more people to commit to long-term support, which would probably accept a price hike when/if we got promoted again in the future!

Not sure by reducing season tickets to £200 would bring back the fans in their thousands to be honest. Even change of manager wouldn't make a difference. The whole match day experience for me has gone. I sat in the Ninian stand two games ago and noticed that everyone around me has an average age of 55 to 65. Says a lot for the atmosphere. Sky has killed a lot of the football attendances. £179 would be a bargain but financially it could mean the club losing money even if we doubled our season ticket sales

Also, how many of our fans are saving for France for the euro finals. It may hit Cardiff a little financially especially if its going to be a family holiday.

Saved a fortune not getting a season ticket this year, to consider buying one again it would have to be around the £200 mark. I think £200 would get the fans who are on the border to get one.

If our club did that lots would buy and not go. Then people would moan when the attendance is announced as higher than it is.

I bought in to the German thing a long time ago, cheaper ticket for everyone. How about screening the Euro Wales game at the CCS, & if you buy a S/T for next season you get free entry?

The whole match day experience has got to drastically Improve all round!

£250 Would be a good adult price imo. Don't think that would hurt club massively when you consider what they pay for the other stuff . Also don't we get catering back next season?
