Russell Slade has admitted that he still has "a lot of work to do" before he fully wins over Cardiff City supporters.

The former Leyton Orient chief took charge of the Welsh outfit exactly one year ago and has so far endured mixed results.

Attendances have fallen drastically at the Cardiff City Stadium this term, but with performances starting to improve and more wins on the board, Slade is hopeful that some momentum can now be built up. "It was important to stabilise things, build for the future," he told BBC of his first 12 months in charge.
"There was, and still is, a lot of work to do. Our aim, of course, is to play good football, a passing game that will please everybody. "That's what we are trying to do. We want fans to be behind the team and I.
It's important to have everybody pushing and ensuring the momentum we can generate is strong. "Momentum is a wonderful thing, a flow of energy that is difficult to stop when it builds up. It's true progress has not been the quickest, but I don't think things that last can be built overnight." Cardiff, who are currently eighth in the Championship standings, have lost just two of their opening 10 league fixtures.
