The two men, with chairman Mehmet Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo, are the big decision-makers for the Bluebirds.
Tan and Slade are in different parts of the world, but they talk before every City fixture and, more often than not, after the final whistle.
“We speak regularly, before and after matches plus at any time when we feel there is something important to discuss,” said Slade.
“He is aware of everything going on at Cardiff City and it’s important we have a strong rapport if we are to achieve the goals we have set.”
Those targets include a return to the Premier League and with City eighth after 10 matches they have put down an initial foundation.
The key question is whether Slade and his players can build on that and genuinely challenge for promotion.
