Why Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has made inspirational dressing room posters in bid to motivate his players

Cardiff's players have chosen four words for a slogan that best describes how they want to be defined this season
Russell Slade has asked the players how they would like to be described this season
Cardiff City boss has had special posters made for the Bluebirds dressing room in a bid to inspire them before matches.
Slade asked his squad to decide how they would want to be described this season, challenging them to come up with four words that will define what the squad is all about.
The players came came up with - 'determined', 'relentless', 'together' and 'winners'.
And those four words now greet players every time they walk into their dressing room before a match.
During a close, private meeting at City’s Vale of Glamorgan Resort training headquarters just before the first match of this season, Slade and his staff provided hundreds of one word suggestions.
Each player had to decide on his top four and Slade says: “I wanted individual players and the group to tell me what qualities they wanted in their team.
“It was one of the many exercises we went through and I asked the players to come up with four qualities they wanted in the team from the hundreds of words suggested.
“Individually they decided on the four things they were each keen on - and the four voted for most have been used.
The players wanted their team to be full of determination, togetherness. They want to be relentless in sticking to what they are asked to do and, crucially, they want to be winners.”
City display the words during the build-up to every match and in crucial meetings, while the manager uses those key words in his talks to players before kick-off.
The posters will be taken to Preston for City’s next match, at Deepdale on Saturday week, as Slade’s Bluebirds aim to extend an impressive Championship record.
Over their last 20 league matches, stretching back to last March, Cardiff have suffered only four defeats and that sort of consistency will be needed if they are going to maintain a push to qualify for the play-offs this season.

Coleman does the same thing with the Welsh team, dresses the hotels and stadiums with quotes and posters of past players
