' 3 CLUBS BATTLING FOR CITY STRIKER '

Le Fondre has been desperately searching for a way out of the Bluebirds after claiming his time in Cardiff was a "black mark" on his career

Walesonline

Saturday August 1st

Striker Adam Le Fondre will leave Cardiff City next week.

That looks certain with two Northern clubs leading the chase and a deal set to be struck with one of them.

Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton Wanderers are keen on Le Fondre, but it seems both will miss out and he is likely to sign for another Championship club in the north of England.

“There is likely to be movement next week and there is a chance it is a club up north showing strong interest,” confirmed Bluebirds manager Russell Slade.

“From the player's point of view he is desperate to sign for the right club in the right geographical area.”

Cardiff will demand a fee for Le Fondre, who has attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs.

But the Stockport-born hitman and his family want a return to the north and Cardiff have waited for the right offer.

Now they are close to agreement and Le Fondre could be on his way next week.

Cardiff are also hoping to reach agreement with Spanish striker Javi Guerra, who could also leave the Bluebirds next week.

Blackburn probably, with some of the money they got from the Gestede deal.

WOL are going with Blackburn but my understanding is that they are still under an FA transfer embargo that means they can only sign frees and loans - no fees. Cardiff want a fee for ALF.

There was a piece in the Lancashire Telegraph that implied the embargo might be lifted if Blackburn can sell another player for a similar or higher fee to that of Rudy Gestede to Villa.

If that is true it might mean that ALF to Blackburn (for a fee to Cardiff) is on if they decide to sell Rhodes to Boro (or somewhere else). If that doesn't happen I don't see a move to Blackburn happening.

He's got no-one to blame but himself. After all he was given a run of 21-23 games all in a row. The fact that he only scored 3 goals in that spell, is all down to him. At least he was given a chance and a pretty good run in the side. Javi Guerra would have scored at least 10-12 goals for City, if he had of been given a run of 21-23 games, just like what Le Fondre was given. What Javi Guerra has had to put up with throughout the whole of his spell here, is the true example of a striker not being given a chance to show the fans what he could bring to the team. He was given a good enough run in the side in my opinion, to have shown exactly what he had to offer and he had been given enough time to have scored a lot more goals too. Unfortunately, his best at that time, was just nowhere near good enough for him to have remained in the side, week in and week out.

Bloooooobirds.

Let's hope he doesn't walk into the medical room door, if he does it will be one of the few times he's hit the target in the past 12 months!
