" FABIO DA SILVA? "

" Fabio Da Silva " Still only 24 years old

Worth approx £2.5 mill Approx Wages £25,000 plus a week.

Ex Manchester United first team player.

Defender Cardiff City

Russell Slade has his doubts about Fabio and I have been told that he even blames him for 6 conceded goals this season.
Slade played Fabio out of position on numerous occasions and in numerous positions.

My opinion, My favourite current City player, for commitment, passion, skill and never say die attitude.
Yes Fabio makes mistakes, but in my opinion makes up for it with his over all performance :thumbright:

Ive heard he might be for sale?

Definitely need to keep Fabio for all the reason stated above. After a shocking premier campaign personally there were only three players i hoped we would hold on to and that was Marshall, Fabio and Daheli.

You can forgive Fabio's mistakes as his commitment more than makes up for them, if played in the right position he will learn :bluescarf:

Thought Fabio was our best performer of the first part of the season, looked solid defensively and good going forward, but after the managerial change, his confidence dropped and so was he. Still think he's easily the best full back we have at the club, and would love to keep him at the club, but due to us getting high wages of the bill, he'll probably be sold, shame really.

He probably was responsible for 5/6 goals , his defending at times is shocking .

He is a wing back in a back five or winger not a full back , when played in a flat back four he struggles .

If declan John is back with connolly as cover I would sell him unless he's kept as a winger to challenge pilkington .

You could say that last year about quite a few, unfortunately there is some very unwelcomed coaches in behind the scenes who haven't a clue!!

His Confidence did drop under Slade, because Fabio was in and out and at one stage looked like he was on his way out.

Spot on thomasblue. I am still amazed that we struggled with width last season when we had the likes of Fabio, John, and Kennedy on our books. If he's not going to be used properly then we should get rid but it would be a big shame. A character who has undoubted ability but would play best in the left wing role... which is where we need someone!

Absolutely agree. That's one decision that has riled me. It's not just because he's a local lad either. He's another player whose development has not been managed properly which is why we've not had any stand out youth players for the past few seasons.

I think Declan John at full back and fabio on the wing in front of him would not only make us strong defensively but also very dangerous going forward down the left . That would be my preference next season but I doubt we will see either of them in all honesty .

If his wages were reasonable - under 10,000 - then it would be great to keep him. Unfortunately he is on too much so will probably go.

Good post although if we were to micro analyse all the defenders you could probably blame them for 5/6 goals each over the season.

There was a great piece in the Echo (really lol) about playing formations the other day and I thought they made a great call for a 5-3-2 formation with Fabio and Declan John operating as wing-backs.

As mentioned his strongest position is not full-back, although Slade's judgement of him probably has more to do with his wages rather than his playing ability.

Yeah, it does appear to be the case. I mean, looking at it logically, he should fit into Slade's mould. Cheap, hungry, and has the ability. Makes you wonder why Slade feels that way.

Mike, I think they want him out.

But if we want some real quality to play along side battlers and lower division players,we will have to pay a few these kind of wages.

He's probably knocking on the managers door as we speak asking for a transfer after the way he has been treated.

If he is willing to stay I would make him no 1 choice left back or left wing-back.

I agree with Annis.. he is one of the few players to demonstrate the kind of passion, commitment and pace needed to do well in this division.

I hope Fabio is kept for next season, for me that will show some ambition by our club, we need players like Fabio.
I think he has also been treated unfairly.

I'd keep him as a winger. He'd offer good support for a full back if played there, and he is great going forward. Played as part of a back 4 he is too often exposed, often due to being too far forward.

Having said that, 2.5m is a tidy purse and could get a couple of players.

If he stays, great, if he goes not drama so long as we get a decent fee.
I know what I said, I was there when I said it.

If anyone would pay us 2.5 mill I'd get rid of him if he's on 25k. Costs us so many goals but I'd keep him as a squad player if he was on lower wages

Now that Slade is gonna have a fair crack of the whip I'm going to say he should leave. Because he's a cracking lad and if managed right, he will be back in the premiership for some time. If he's stays here he will be wasted.

May as well let him go. His game will suffer playing under Slade. Better off with a team that has a half decent manager, and someone who will play him in a formation that will allow him to show his true quality.
