Bluebirds maintain their loyalties are with Wales after shock 'back England' messages sent to their fan base by Football League

An email sent in the name of Cardiff City asking supporters to join England fan club
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=156535

Cardiff City have moved to distance themselves from an email sent out in their name urging Bluebirds fans to join the ENGLAND Supporters Club.

Season ticket holders were shocked to receive messages from the club urging them to back Roy Hodgson’s three Lions.

The emails came to light ahead of England’s Euro 2016 qualifying clash with Lithuania at Wembley, with Gareth Bale and the rest of Chris Coleman’s Wales hopefuls taking on Israel in their own qualifying crunch on Saturday evening.

Cardiff say the emails were sent out in error under their own branding by the Football League. They also say League officials have apologised to them.

Some Bluebirds supporters were angered to receive the message, which starts ‘From Cardiff City to you...’

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=156535

It goes on to say, “Free to join; Priority tickets; Exclusive competitions” and states anyone joining before April 24 can win a signed England shirt or tickets to watch Wayne Rooney and his team-mates take on Switzerland.

Next to a picture of the England badge, the message continues: “What are you waiting for, join the team. Together for England.”

Underneath, in small print, it says: “You received this email as a registered subscriber of Cardiff City.”

The Bluebirds took to twitter on Thursday evening to stress the email was NOT of their own doing.

“Please note the England Supporters email was not sent out by Cardiff City. It was a League email clubs. A mistake to investigate,” the club tweeted.

A second message read: “We, of course, wish the home nations every success, but are proud to support and work with @FAWales. A big few days ahead.”

A spokesperson for the Bluebirds told WalesOnline this morning: “The message was sent out by the Football League interactive network.

“This happens the whole time, but there is an agreement that Cardiff City loyalties are with Wales and the Football Association of Wales. England emails are not sent to fans of Cardiff, Newport, Swansea or Wrexham.

“The initial batch of emails was sent to clubs alphabetically. Cardiff and Newport fans received them. Error was realised at this stage which was why Swansea and Wrexham fans didn’t receive them.

“We have been in discussion with the Football League and they have apologised for making the error. They will be putting out an e-mail apologising for the oversight.”

Thomas But again not the city fault
Unless you can prove it
Innocent until proven guilty
And just because the county manager says something don't mean it's right
If we own the players registration and recall him then I believe he can play for us :bluescarf:

Not every time, no.

But City have never made things easy for themselves, over the decades. I'm sure you and many other long serving fans need no reminding of this. and like The Other Bob Wilson said in his blog recently, there's never any middle ground when it comes to Cardiff City FC.

Rick Wright certainly knew how to run a business, he knew how to treat & get the customer base on his side, an example being the "pay as we play" pricing policy he put in place. But RW's tenure was all too short lived, The Financial Controller making no secret of fact that his appointment was going to be on a short contract, two or three seasons, I think. And when he left, things just fell away again.
