Peltier will train today, a light session. Malone will still be out and it’s another eight to 10 days for him. Peltier has an outside chance of being available against Wolves.

Russell Slade Says: Ben Turner has had a scan and that showed he is progressing, but that doesn’t change the length of time he will be out which is 10 to 12 weeks. Ben has done six to seven weeks so far and is making progress. Fabio is still not quite right, but he isn’t far away. The problem is aggravating him a little, but he is out doing light training. Saturday may be too soon, but I would be disappointed if he wasn’t available on Tuesday at Rotherham.

Kagisho Dikgacoi is still three or four weeks away from coming into the main group. Even then he will have a long way to go.

Anthony Pilkington has started doing warm-ups and our medical people are building him up.

Pilkington and Joe Mason are still with the medics. They have not passed them on to me yet.

They are both two or three weeks away from joining the main group.

Peltier had a bit of a calf strain before Wigan game, although it’s no more than a grade one injury. He is 50-50 for Saturday.

Fabio is probably nearest to a return from injury while we are hopeful Peltier will be back.

Anthony Pilkinghton needs a month to get match fit.

' WOLVES '

Wolverhampton Wanderers will have Bakary Sako available.

Scott Golbourne is the only doubt for the match as the hosts continue to monitor his foot troubles, but he is expected to be fit and Jackett could name an unchanged side.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club is an English professional football club that represents the city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. The club was originally known as St. Luke's FC and was founded in 1877 and since 1889 has played at Molineux. They currently compete in the Football League Championship, the second highest tier of English football, having been promoted from League One in 2014 after a solitary season at that level.

Historically, Wolves have been highly influential, most notably as being founder members of the Football League, as well as having played an instrumental role in the establishment of the European Cup, later to become the UEFA Champions League. Having won the FA Cup twice before the outbreak of the First World War, they developed into one of England's leading clubs under the management of ex-player Stan Cullis after the Second World War, going on to win the league three times and the FA Cup twice more between 1949 and 1960. It was during this time that the European Cup competition was established, after the English press declared Wolves "Champions of the World" following their victories against numerous top European and World sides in some of British football's first live televised games.

Wolves have yet to match the successes of the Stan Cullis era, although, under Bill McGarry, they contested the first-ever UEFA Cup final in 1972 and won the 1974 League Cup, a trophy they lifted again six years later under John Barnwell. However, financial mismanagement in the 1980s led to the club's very existence being under threat as well as three consecutive relegations, before a revival and back-to-back promotions under manager Graham Turner and record goalscorer Steve Bull saw them finish the decade in the Second Division, winning the Football League Trophy along the way.

Despite the financial backing of then-owner Sir Jack Hayward during the next decade, they were unable to regain a place in the top flight until 2003, when manager Dave Jones ended their nineteen-year exile but only for a solitary Premier League season. The club returned for a three-year stay at the top level after Mick McCarthy led them back as Football League Championship champions in 2009, but his dismissal in 2012 preceded relegation back to the Championship. The following season saw two further managers dismissed as the club then suffered a second relegation before winning the League One title under current head coach Kenny Jackett.

Kenny Jackett: Wolves boss in mood to carry on attacking

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett says his team must continue to 'go on the attack' if they are to maintain their dream of a second successive promotion.

They led the Championship on 1 November before a five-match losing run, but have since clawed their way back into serious contention.

The key, according to Jackett, is simply finding the back of the net.
"We have found a formula in terms of scoring goals. Going forward we are quite potent," he told BBC Sport.
"At various stages this season, we haven't had that. We also need to tighten up in other areas, but we must continue to go on the attack.
"Winning games consistently is very difficult in the Championship. You have to find different ways to win. The lads need to keep hungry, stay sharp and keep fully focused as we chase that top six and, if we are to have any chance, we need to be inventive around that opposition box."
Wolves remain five points adrift of the Championship play-off places with 13 games to go, despite hitting eight goals their last two games,
Wolves rediscover goal touch
Wolves scored 89 goals last term in winning the League One title, averaging almost two goals per game. This season, they have been far less prolific, averaging just over one a game until this sudden burst of 12 in four matches.

They are nine behind second-placed Middlesbrough following Tuesday night's 3-0 home win over Fulham, and although they now face two tough away games against Cardiff City and Bournemouth, Jackett insists that an automatic promotion place is not out of their reach.
"We've bounced back well from defeat to a very good Norwich side," he said. "If you're looking over the last four games we've got a 'three', a 'four' and a 'five'. It's no coincidence when you can score like that.
"I understand that people need to fall away, but nine points is still doable. Right from the start of the season, promotion has been our aim. I've certainly made up 10 points from the end of February, but I've never made up any more than that."
Having Mali international winger Bakary Sako back in the team following the African Cup of Nations has been a factor.
He has now scored three times in two matches, which will inevitably lead to renewed speculation on the 26-year-old's future when his contract expires this summer.
For now, Jackett is just happy to have him in his side.
"To some degree, we have done well to keep him as long as we have," he added. "But I've been delighted with his attitude. It's good to have goals coming from a different source.
"We have to sum the situation up at the end of the season. But we're comfortable with that and he is relaxed too. He doesn't want to talk about the future or do anything until then. He is happy to focus on Wolves."

Preview: Cardiff City vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

By Barney Corkhill.

Thursday, February 26, 2015

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to keep in touch with the Championship playoff places when they travel to South Wales to take on Cardiff City on Saturday.

Kenny Jackett's side are currently on the outside looking in, with only two points separating third place from seventh-placed Brentford and Wolves sitting a further four behind the Bees in eighth.

However, the Midlands outfit appear to be hitting their stride at an important time of the season having won their last two games in style, scoring eight goals and conceding none in the process.

A 5-0 rout of Rotherham United last weekend was followed up by a comfortable victory over Fulham on Tuesday in which Wolves got the job done in the first half.

Bakary Sako was instrumental in both games, with three goals and two assists signifying a timely return to form for the in-demand striker.

Benik Afobe and Nouha Dicko have also contributed to the recent upturn in form, and that front trio is expected to start up top once again despite Sako suffering from a stomach bug this week.

Scott Golbourne is the only doubt for the match as the hosts continue to monitor his foot troubles, but he is expected to be fit and Jackett could name an unchanged side.

" CARDIFF CITY CALL TO ARMS THIS SATURDAY "

:bluescarf: :bluescarf: THIS SATURDAY WEAR YOUR BLUE RETRO SHIRTS V WOLVES :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Cardiff City Football Club

For those asking on the thoughts behind our retro shirt invitation this Saturday. Other than a call to arms with around 2,000 Wolves fans coming, following on from the return of traditional colours in January 2015, this is a simple way for fans to come together to celebrate the history of the club. An easy way to achieve this is through supporters wearing their favourite shirts from our past.

We'll be taking and using fan photos to create a new Bluebird collage, like our classic player image. Those in the photo will be drawn for competition prizes (details tbc). It's win/win, no pressure, and it'd be great if as many City fans as possible took this forward.

Jackett's side could make it three wins in a week against the Bluebirds, who have struggled since coming down from the Premier League.

Wolves have rattled in eight goals without reply in home games against Rotherham and Fulham respectively since last weekend.

Kenny Jackett today revealed that he would not be afraid to make changes as Wolves prepare for a trip to Cardiff City.

I don’t think you can hesitate to change it if you think that’s right for the next game."
Kenny Jackett

Having scored eight goals and conceded none in back-to-back home wins over Rotherham United and Fulham, Wolves return to the road to face Russell Slade's Bluebirds.

When asked if he would look to keep the same line-up, the Head Coach replied: “In an ideal world you could stay and keep the same team and almost reward the players for good performances and good results. But it doesn’t work that way and won’t work that way.

“With two home games played and six points gathered which we’re delighted with, but then go away to Cardiff the game will be different.

“I’m not one that will say ‘don’t change a winning team’ I don’t think that’s necessarily the case.

“While you have to be reasonably consistent with the players and also realise that if they do put good performances and winning performances they do expect to play as well. It’s about a balance between those two.

“But I don’t think as a head coach you can hesitate to change it if you think that’s right for the next game, whatever’s happened in the previous game whether that be a win, a loss or a draw.”

Wolves: Team news for the trip to Cardiff this weekend

Friday 27 February 2015

By Paul Suart

Wolverhampton Wanderers will have Bakary Sako available, plus the latest on Wolves' long-term absentees

Bakary Sako of Wolverhampton Wanderers celebrates after scoring a goal to make it 2-0 against Fulham
In-form Wolves winger Bakary Sako has shrugged of the stomach complaint that forced him off the field against Fulham.

Sako was on a hat-trick when he was withdrawn shortly before the hour mark with Wolves already 3-0 up.

It was thought the ten-goal top scorer was simply being rested with a busy run of games to come.

But manager Kenny Jackett revealed after the match on Tuesday night that Sako had suddenly been struck down by a stomach bug he could not shake off.

The 26-year-old, who has rediscovered his touch in front of goal with three in his last two games, is fit again and ready for the trip to Cardiff City.

Jack Price returned to the fold against Fulham after shaking off an illness and has not suffered any recurrence.

Jackett has no other fresh injury concerns, but is still without a handful of first team players.

Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is still some way off a return after breaking a metatarsal in his left foot in training earlier this month.

Ikeme is expected to face another six to eight weeks on the sidelines, Jackett said yesterday.

Utility man Tommy Rowe is still recovering from the surgery he underwent for a fractured metatarsal sustained in the win at Watford on Boxing Day.

Long lost winger Razak Boukari is back in training after two years of injury hell, but will need reserve fixtures before Jackett even considers him for the first team.
